Almost there!

So, after spending the weekend in Quebec, things in my life are really, really taking shape!

This weekend, Nathan and I moved all of his stuff into our new place. We got to spend a bunch of time shopping together. We also went on an amazing date to my new favorite bar, Largo. Live jazz, a round of drinks before dinner, a bottle of wine, appetizers, soups, veal and eggplant wonderfully cooked for dinner, dessert, dessert drinks... Mmmm. I wish I had the money to spend $200 on meals all of the time! :-P (Thank you Mrs. Shetterley for the amazing gift! ;-) ) Got to see good friends, ALI came to visit me! And a bunch of people came to help us move in to what is really a beautiful place that I am looking forward to going home to every day.

I don't remember if I've described the new place yet... So I'm going to. 447 Lavigeuer. Right in the city. Beautiful. I have a yard and a parking spot. And I enter my apartment from a front or back door and don't have to worry about trekking upstairs and pissing off neighbors.

I have a Michigan basement the size of the building's foundation. Good for storage and hide and seek. :-) I have a breezeway, which is huge, for storage. For that I need to buy some outdoor carpet and some shelves... Maybe some new paint to dress it up a little bit and make it a little room for my friends that smoke. Not that they can't use the entire yard once the snow melts! Or our garage for that matter!

The actual apartment has mostly positives: LARGE large kitchen with lots of storage. Large master bedroom with walk in closet. New hardwood floors throughout the entire place, save the bathroom. Large guestroom with closet. Big windows throughout the entire apartment including huge picture windows in all of my living rooms. Yeah. That's right. I have three. We've already converted one into an office area for our desks and what not. One is going to be our living room with the big screen TV and lots of plush seating, and one will be our conservatory with the guitars, piano, clarinet, flute, record players, records etc... Perfect location. We've also already rented lots of art to dress the place up.

Negatives: Tiny bathroom. It doesn't seem to fit the rest of the apartment. But we're both handy and making it work. Funny arrangement of appliances in the kitchen with difficulty moving things due to different wiring problems. Kitchen is also an ugly color when lit, it's okay in the dark. Bathroom is a similar ugly color and I need to replace the linoleum, I would like to tile it actually, but the Clawfoot tub makes that hard. I also need to replace the bathroom sink because hot water and cold water come out of two different faucets. I also need a new toilet lid. I also need to replace the lighting fixture in the bathroom and the conservatory...

So I guess all of those things aren't really negatives as much as they are like... challenges that I'm looking forward to overcoming.

Speaking of overcoming challenges... I got a job in Quebec. I will be teaching English. I have found the legal way to work in Quebec. I am almost done with the semester.

Life is really, really good right now despite some problems at home with the family and what not. I have no finals so I get to spend that week starting my new job and tying up any loose ends in relation to school.

I graduate May 4.

I have a huge blowout grad party on June 9th... That's a revised date.

This is shaping up to be an amazingly wonderful turning point in my life.
