Ok.. so my arms got tired of cutting :)
So I decided to whip together a couple new dipes for Noelle! She might get hand-me downs for most of her toys and clothes but she gets mama-made fluffy goodness, so it's a fair trade - right?
I'm surprised that some people on my flist didn't know that I cloth diaper and/or that I actually make my own (and others). I guess I don't post about it much because I post in other diapering communities about it.
Anywho, it's a hobby of mine if you didn't already know that. Sewing in general is relaxing for me and it helps me keep my sanity around here sometimes! Plus I reap the benefits of being able to make things vs buy them so I save $$$, and there's the pride-factor when someone says OMG! that outfit/diaper is SOOOO cute. I get to say "aww thanks *I* made it!" I'll never claim to be a perfect seamstress, but my girsl sure don't mind! :) I also love the fact that I hope to teach my children that thing's don't always have to be store bought. Kiersten is already starting to say "mama, can you make me a new pair of pants" instead of "mom we need to go to the store to get new pants" so I must be doing something right.
Here's my two completed diapers for the night.
Two PUL pockets made from recycled PUL (I had two 1 layer covers that were getting pretty ratty).
Outer: Cotton Woven
Hidden: PUL
Inner: Suedecloth (black for the Dora one, Brown for the other.)
Bound in FOE (Fold over elastic)
Closure: Snaps
I love that they sew up so quick and easy with FOE! It only took me about an hour for both of these from start to finish (and that included removing the old hook and loop on it!)
Kiersten is going to want this one, I know it! It might have to be a night-time diaper for her (she's completely out of diapers otherwise)
This one isn't crooked, it's just the way it's laying.
