Firsts (Again)

I promised that I was going to start posting more regularly again. And considering that it's only been two weeks since my last post and it'd been a month since the post before that, I feel like I'm adhering to the 'more' part of that promise.

Today was the first of several things. The first day of Teacher Training (at which I became more convinced that I like our headmaster, and more convinced that he's going to make me a little crazy to work with). The first day of my first class, Women in Antiquity (to which I was only twelve minutes late on account of my head master keeping me 41 minutes late at this morning's training). Both were time well spent and I'm looking forward to what will come.

I picked up copies of some books I'd requested they buy for me. Including an answer key to one of the Latin texts I'm teaching from. And another book I thought was an answer key and turns out to be a teaching aid. The aid-not-answer-key will prove quite useful , just not what I wanted it to be. I'm planned through Christmas or better in every class except middle school composition. Mostly because my likable headmaster still isn't wholly sure what he's doing when and for how long. What it boils down to is he's a pantser and I'm a plotter. I'm not finding fault with him, but team writing (or, in this case, teaching) with a different style than yourself has its challenges. Particularly when you're both up to your eyeballs in other stuff.

This evening, along with a much needed nap, I washed all the dishes that had accumulated while the roommie has been gone visiting family back east, read a little more of Patricia Briggs Hunting Ground (which is stellar so far), and watched one of my favorite versions of Snow White with girlfriends who were 1) a history major, 2) a creative writing major, and 3) an accounting major. May I say that sexy, fashionista, accounting girls make marvelous (if clueless) movie-watching companions?

The sweat, dirt and tears drama that was August will be over in less than an hour. I'm excited and slightly overwhelmed. Mostly I'm overwhelmed about things that I have only minimal control over (like the financial aid office, property management companies, and the United States Postal Service). Which leaves me more excited than not.
