So, my three hour, once per week, evening Latin class decided (by means of no one vehemently opposing our instructor) to bring food to share on a rotational basis. I get to bring food next week, the week preceding Valentine's Day. My mom, fabulous, intentional, and creative woman that she has always been, created all kinds of neat traditions for my sister and I when we were kids. One of my favorite of these was having a Valentine's Day tea (for us, our friends, and everybody's dolls). I wasn't courageous enough to tell everyone to bring their dolls or teddy-bears to class next week (although, I likely will), but I am going to try to serve several British tea things.
I have a few challenges to this plan:
1) How do I bring enough tea to serve 11 people ... and keep it hot when I don't have anything resembling a kitchen (just a classroom and bathrooms)?
2) (Since several people voiced a dislike for seafood, and I usually make tuna sandwiches for tea) I've found a lovely sounding recipe for
chicken curry tea sandwiches. The challenge is in that line where it says 'curry powder to taste' with a warning that it's quite strong. How much curry do I start with?
I'll keep everyone posted in my adventures in serving portable tea to finicky eaters.
