Polarization

So, I've been doing a lot of pondering in the last 24 hours or so. About a lot of things. But the question I would like to put to anyone who stumbles across my blog is this: Does anyone have a cure for polarization?

Anyone who is really your friend isn't going to hate you for an opinion. Yes, you might debate, argue, or even get a rib from it now and again, but they're not going to quit being your friend because of an opinion. And if they do, are they really the friends you want anyways? Healthy friendships and relationships are open and honest. It would upset me more that a friend was saying something to please me than to be honest about their opinion.

That being said, tact is always a good approach. "I see your point, but I don't agree because..." is pretty good, or the old "Well, what about the idea that..." if you want to remain impersonal.

In the end, it's about you and your honesty to yourself.
