I'm so excited about NYU at the moment.

I just got back from orientation and it made it seem more real to me.

I'm going to be living in the village next year. wow.

There are tons of queer guys, every time you turn your head, you see one. The percentage of straight guys in the overall student population makes them very happy. LGBT culture is all over the place. In my group, there were three guys. One was straight.

But queer girls are much harder to find, in my opinion. Out of nine girls in my group, seven were straight. Maybe its because they aren't as flaming.

In any case, NYU is still really cool. I did my schedule and have International Politics, Advanced Spanish Conversation, a Freshman Honors Seminar about Historical Preservation of American Cities and Writing the Essay. Wednesdays are completely free and classes on Mondays and Fridays consist of only an hour before noon. Which leaves Tuesday to be oh-so-fun with every one of my classes meeting (although there are at least 2 hour breaks between most of them)from 8 in the morning till 7:30 at night and Thursday pretty packed, too, with three out of four classes.

But I'm not just excited by my classes. I'm excited by the people I met. I'm excited by the neighborhood. I'm excited by the fact that the food was good (and had veggie options beyond pizza & pasta). I'm excited by the study abroad options and by the prospect of going fall of sophomore year. I'm excited by discovering new things to do in the city. I'm excited by going dorm-room shopping. I'm excited about the really strong prescense that the LGBT community has on campus. I'm excited about the fact that out of a 14-course core requirement, I AP'ed or will major-or-minor exempt out of all but three of them and that those 3 (except for writing the essay) all sound really interesting.

I'm just basically looking forward to going. I feel even less nostalgia for those that I'm leaving than I did before. I guess thats horrible, but its the truth. I'll miss some people but I think I'll get over it really quickly.

Is that so bad?
