49. Three at Wolfe's Door, Rex Stout. Another of the three-story collections. I'll just give you the description from inside the front cover:
"1. A Dose of Poison--There were twelve suspects - and they just happened to be the twelve most beautiful models in New York!
2. A Deadly Lasso--The most famous cowboy of them all....but the rope was around his own neck!
3. A Butcher Knife--Archie saw it - still stuck in the dame's ribs - and the corpse was at Wolfe's door!"
In short, good times.

50. The Final Detail, Harlan Coben. I keep reading this Myron Bolitar series, even though I'm just not that crazy about them. But there really aren't that many! At some point, I've got to be actually done, even reading out of order like I've done.

51. Just Kids, Patti Smith. Actual award-winning Literature! I liked it, and the glimpse into her life with Robert Mapplethorpe in the late 60s-early 70s in NYC, but somehow it felt very surface. I don't now feel like I know what it is to be an artist, even though the whole book was presumably about What It Is To Be An Artist. Glad I read it, though.

52. The Second Confession, Rex Stout. An atypical outing for Nero Wolfe, starting with the fact that he literally takes an outing (he hates to leave the house, especially for business). Then it turns out to be about communists and organized crime and larger things than these books are generally about.

So, this week I'm officially breaking what I figured would be a book/week pace this year. I think the Stouts don't quite count, though, since they are short and quick. But still.
