This is the post that I thought I would be making a week ago.
I have a job! I'm super excited. I think this has been the best week ever for me. Yeppers. I totally will that game. Wednesday I got a call while I was babysitting Isabelle from Rockfalls school district and I was asked if I was still interested in getting a job. I acceptd an interview from them just being happy that they actually called me. They wanted the interveiw for the next day. WOW. So I accepted again. Thursday I went out to Rockfalls and as I pulled into the parking lot I fell in love with this school. It was a tiny little building with farms all around it. I know that it's K-8 so I felt pretty comfortable talking to them about working with students because of my student teaching. I'm pretty sure that's why they hired were even interested. We actually started out talking about fishing. But soon moved on into my travels and then what I would do as a teacher.I took a tour of the building and I saw the Music/Band room, which has windows???, and other things. I talked to the former music teacher who can't be much older than I am making it really easy to talk to him. I left feeling pretty good. It wasn't a steller performance but it wasn't terrible. Assuming that this would be the beginning of a long list of interviews I called Lisa to reflect. About 20 minutes down the road I got a call from the guy that had been interviewing me and he asked me if I was still interested in the position. It hadn't been long enough for me to talk myself out of it so I told him that I was. He was pleased to hear this because he offered me the position. I'm pretty sure that if I had any doubts in my mind that I wouldn't be able to handle this I would have reacted differently but I accepted. I'm not saying that I jumped in without knowing what I was doing. I had done my homework and had actually thought about the "what if I get that job" possibilities. I'm happy to say that even with talking to my parents and to Mike I'm still going to accept the position. I'm going to be teaching K-8 General Music as well as 5-8 Band. I have the security of Gen Mus but my sanity with band. I have also talked about getting either a house or an apartment with Mike, and granted that all depends on wheather he can find a job other there or not, I'm thinking that the apartment for at least a year will work the best for what I need it for.
After all of that you would think that it couldn't have gotten any better. Well, for the first time this summer I went camping. I feel wonderful! Mike and I flexed our camping muscles and went out just the two of us for the weekend. We have survived and actually really liked the chance to get away. I'm better at card games than I thought I was and Mike and I actually work together pretty well. It even rained and nothing tragic happened. My parents came out last night and stayed with us making it a little more fun.
Today we came home and then went out on the motorcycle to get ice cream. We even went all the way to Cold Stone. I'm telling you! Best Weekend EVER. I love Life!
