I had the fortune of making a new friend a couple of months ago and in the last couple of weeks we have immersed ourselves in each others lives.
I feel comfortable with them, I trust them and when I am talking, I know that they are really listening to me - not just waiting for their turn to talk.
My new friend has so many very special gifts, I count myself privileged to call them a friend.
Some people are lovers for merely a night,
One moment of passion then fading from sight.
Some people find lovers in modern situations,
“He’s a friend of a friend’s distant relation.”
Some people will find a lover for life,
They walk down the aisle as husband and wife
But you and I are the lovers, deep of the heart,
Not always together, but never apart.
A trust that is so pure and so rare,
An understanding that leaves me bare.
May we keep this moment without end
May I always count you a friend.
