If I haven't written anything here pretty much all summer, it hasn't been for lack of activity. We have been busy working our asses off up in Winter Harbor up until the past few weeks, when, in short succession, I:
- spent many, many hours getting reacquainted with my nephew/brother/sister-in-law, who just bought a new house! well, the baby didn't really have too much to do with that.
- visited my grandfather in Bowdoin (who I have not seen since my grandmother's funeral eight years ago)
- spent time at my home in Concord
- spent time at my home in Brooklyn
- spent time at my home in Pennsylvania
- hopped a flight to Tokyo
and tons more. There was a lot of shopping & eating & birthday-celebrating & wine in there too.
Currently I am back at my favorite airport Narita waiting for a transfer to Saigon, my least favorite airport outside Morocco. I have been experiencing persistent and chronic exhaustion the last week or so, which I would love to blame on anemia but which I know is in fact due entirely to my refusal to go to sleep. Ever.
But who can blame me? The weeks leading up to a trip are, it seems, destined to be completely insane for me. We have so many loved ones, and they're so scattered.
This is not necessarily a bad thing.
I miss you guys already!
