it's a celebration, bitches!

so yesterday i was sitting at work about about 4pm, lamenting the fact that my dear dear love David Chappelle was mere hours away from starting his last two shows of his three night/six show stint in the ATL. annnnd that i wasnt going. again. severely bummed doesnt even begin to cover it...but i wasnt feeling the $75 price tag OR the fact that it was sold out, blah blah.

so then cat calls me: "we're going to the show, come pick my ass up."

thing is, she didnt have tickets. just a ridiculous hope that we'd find tickets and go because, as cat and i have a long standing bond over Mr. Chappelle, it seemed all wrong to her too that we let this weekend pass us by. so between the hours of 5pm when i picked her up and 7pm when the show started, we managed to drive across town, rummage through craigslist to find tickets, make ourselves mildly hot, get to the Tabernacle, meet up, buy tickets and get our asses in the seats. all in two hours, with time to spare bitches.

so yea, dave was great, the opening guy was great but goddamn. let's just take a minute to acknowledge how much Mos Def OWNED that show...he came out and did a set between opener (whose name i WISH i could remember, ill have to look it up) and dave annnnd i didnt know he was going to be there. which wouldve made me just that much more excited, as i love, adore and in general, want to do dirty and wonderful things to Mos Def. and he was AMAZING. i was in line for drinks when he came out and i almost collapsed. very nice surprise.

oh and then cat NEEDED a vortex burger when we got out, so we drove home and walked across the street, where she proceeded to sit there and stuff her face while flirting with the waiter. she ACTUALLY dropped her number with the tip. i was proud of her, she never does shit like that...the whole night capped off by ridiculous amounts of pajama style girl talk and boy bashing/swooning; one of those great grown up slumber parties that i just dont get enough of anymore.

all in all, not  bad for a monday night considering that at the end of the workday, i was pretty convinced i was gonna spend it doing laundry. ha. like that ever works out.

happy tuesday, ladies~

PS--text from cat RIGHT NOW saying that Vortex waiter man sent her a text message. word.
