You know, I think everyone here has one of those "I DON'T GET WHY PEOPLE DO THIS" tick. Mine has to do with not spaying and neutering your pets.
No, I never am happy when someone tells me their cat or dog is pregnant. Mainly because I don't know any authorised breeders. So none of my friends have any reason not to have their pet fixed.
My mom is the cat coordinator of a rescue league here in North Texas, and the amount of tragic stories and poor faces that she gets sent to her inbox frustrates me to no end. Sometimes I peek over her shoulder while she's looking at "EUTHENASIA (next day) COB" emails with pictures of cats that are usually owner-release. It's gut wrenching. Tear jerking at some times as well.
I don't get why regular people think they can breed animals. Because they think everyone is okay with having a regular tabby, or a black kitten (the two most difficult colours to adopt out). It's stupid. People are stupid. I hate stupid people. They are the reason my mom has to look at poor 4 year old owner-releases, or a litter of kittens that are 1 month old that some moron brought to Animal Control because they didn't know what else to do with them...
Recent story? Some lady calls my mom asking if we can take in SEVEN kittens. My mom calls her back saying "no, no one in North Texas has any room." Finds out that it's the sister's cat's babies. And that this was her THIRD litter. COME ON PEOPLE!
I'm sick of it. I really am. I want to go and sit outside of Animal Control and stab these morons in the eye. :( It angers me THAT much...
My mom just rescued another cat. How could she not? Pregnant cat who is about to pop. Animal Control was going to put her down before she had her babies. Sometimes I wonder if it's cruel, or smart. At least the poor kittens won't have to come to in this cruel world... :( But still.. the mother is a kitten herself. Probably about 9mo-1yo.
