Also re: 50mm pics. That lens only costed me $140 (with a lens filter). :)

wow that sounds good for lenses... i skimmed through prices and most of them are like $200-300 up! (new and retail tho)

Like I said before, 2 must have lenses will be the 75-300mm lens and the 50mm lens. These are the ones I got

i think the type of photography that i'm interested in is the macro-ish type... like your cat pictures. focus on the face, blur on the rest. beautiful! so that 50mm lens is going straight into my wishlist.
