Epica...

...was fantastic live. And so were all of the opening bands, including the local ones. I take back everything I ever said about Blackguard; they KICKED ASS. I'm not fond of the vocals, but musically, oh god.

Simone Simmons (Epica) called a guy in the crowd a motherfucker because he kept yelling for her to "show us her tits." It was rather hysterical. She's sweet little Simone, and all the sudden, "No, I won't show you my tits, motherfucker!"

I managed to get up front, which made me very happy. The lead singer of Blackguard leapt into the crowd, and the guy in front of me shifted to grab him; I jumped in front of him and held my fort, and then claimed I was pushed. I know, I'm terrible. But I did not fly all the way from Michigan to be one of the shortest people there and in the second row where I can't see anything. The guy next to me was practically guarding me when it came to the moshing. There wasn't a lot, but Eclipsed by Sanity called for the Wall of Death, and I literally clutched to the wooden rail thingy for dear life. And since it was the last show on the Design Your Universe Tour, everyone went nuts. Everyone from all the bands (except Simone) were crowd surfing, spraying water at people in the front row (I was soaked by the time I left), etc. All in all, it was a great night. I'll have pictures/video when I get home tomorrow.

Until then, enjoy a video from the Otep show.
