My normally very drama-free family has recently decided to shake things up a bit and stuff's been a bit intense between some people. I wrote a big long vent email to my best mate who used to live across the road from me up in the mountains and, in the middle of her awesome reply, was this:

'All I’m reminded about is when I was driving down with your dad one day (it had snowed in the morning and I needed a lift to town, or something - can't remember the details). Anyhow, my dad had been insistent on me ringing him once we'd passed the snow. I'd grumbled about it, saying how silly it was, but your dad told me that it was better to have someone care for you, and look out for you in their own way, than no one at all. That's stuck with me.'

Maybe I'm just being a bit of a sook today, but this made me tear up. Words to live by courtesy of my best friend and my awesome dad. Yes, the people close to me can drive me mental, but I think I'll leave the self-pity to those in the world who don't have people looking out for them.

In other news, writing continues to be sporadic for me (ten points if you just immediately thought of Clueless). I have a new project (yes, even newer than the one I mentioned in the post below). I'm a couple of chapters in and somewhat in love with it. Here's hoping the love lasts and you get to see it soon. Anyone want to play the 'which cliche has Jess fallen in love with now?' game?

Cheers, Jess/star123
