"Well, Opal, now you have two things to be grateful for..."

"You're not living under a bridge, AND you don't pee in closets."

To understand the quote:

Opal is one of the more cognitively aware residents. She is the only one who smokes and will often go outside for her cigarettes. She's prone to depression, but will always say, "those poor people who live under a bridge, at least I'm not like that," or something similar.

Anyway, she was outside while I was talking to Avalina (in the courtyard dividing the two houses), and Avalina explained the mystery of the "empty" laundry bucket in one of the rezzie's rooms. A male resident, I'll call him Blarance, has been urinating everywhere in the house. His favorites: garbage cans, carpeted wall, recliner chairs. Marking his territory, I suppose.

One caregiver had a brilliant idea: tear up the carpet in the closet in his room, and put an empty laundry bucket in it for him to relieve himself! So, he has his own "private" bathroom... in a closet... in a bucket. But, as I can tell you first-hand, he has no problems using it!

How's that for a fun morning story.

He got mad at me a little later that night: Sheila was asleep in a recliner chair (she doesn't like to sleep in her bed), and he kept trying to put her shoes on her feet. Her feet get very swollen, so it's important to let them relax at night. I took the shoes from her feet, and walked away while Blarance menaced after me, "now WAIT a minute!"... I hid them under her bed while he followed in hot pursuit. Luckily he didn't see me place them in their secret hiding place, so he simply stood at the doorway for a minute and then sulked away.

In other news, only 3 more days of work, and I have completed another day of marathon training. Today I rest. Perhaps buy new running shoes? If time and transportation allows.
