I'll love you with all the madness in my soul.

I am constantly listening to music every chance that I get. The selection on my iPod, which I always have on the road with me, is somewhat schizophrenic. I have everything from Billie Holiday to Liz Phair, Elvis to Brad Paisley, Led Zeppelin to Jeff Buckley. There isn’t a genre of music that I can think of that I won’t listen to. I may play country music, but I appreciate all styles. What always grabs me the most is great songwriting, which isn’t exclusive to one particular brand of music. Hallelujah for variety.

Today was one of those days where I got stuck on a song and couldn’t let it go. I know you’re reading this nodding your head knowing exactly what I’m talking about. That one particular song just strikes a chord, obvious or subliminal, and you need to listen to it over and over again like a drug, never getting enough. Today’s song was Bruce Springsteen’s “Born to Run”, the slowed down, acoustic, live version from the “Chimes of Freedom” EP. It’s made me want to get a good whiskey buzz and find a guy with a leather jacket and a five o’clock shadow to wrap my arms around as the wind from riding on the back of his motorcycle stings my face.

At the very back of the bus is our “chill out” room where we spend most of our time hanging out during our limited down time on tour. The stereo has a place to plug in an iPod and I think I’ve been driving Michelle a little crazy with the song on repeat. We try not to play music too loud on the bus with her daughter Owen on tour, so to get my blaring fix, I put on headphones for awhile and sang along while Michelle laughed at me and changed crap filled diapers.

What song do you have on repeat today?
