Hurricane Gloria struck Long Island and Southern New England 25 years ago today.
It was a fun, windy storm, but from what I remember kinda weird with the lack of rain.
Thought the willow tree in the back yard wouldn't make it, but it did, but not without some broken limbs. It continued to shed leaves and branches both big and small until it was torn down to make way for an addition onto the house.
We had no power for about a week, but other areas close by came back sooner. Were just about to go ask a friend a couple of doors up Washington Street if we could recharge a couple of flashlights when our power came back.
