Some poking at Picasa later, finally have all of the pictures from the trip up.
Here is the link to all of them! One of our first glimpses of Alaska. We knew then it would be a grand adventure.
We get off the train that took us from Anchorage to Seward, and this was our first sight of our home for the next week, Royal Caribbean's Radiance of the Seas.
Really, this was the best day of them all, at the face of Hubbard Glacier. As mentioned before, an awesome display of the power of nature. Could have flown back the next day and called it an amazing trip.
Juneau was up next. As as you may have already read, it was a rainy and rather dreary day. That didn't stop us from seeing the main sight to see there, Mendenhall Glacier.
The day in Skagway was fun and the train ride back down the White Pass trail was cool. I was an idiot though and failed to take a close up photo of the inukshuk
lumric was working on here.
Not much happened at Icy Straight Point/Hoonah except for
lumric's mad zip line ride. Oh, and I set my toes into the Pacific Ocean, just to say I could really. (And damn... those rocks on the beach were sharp...)
The last shore day in Alaska was spent in Ketchikan. It's one of the rainiest places in all of North America. However, the day we were there, was one of the 30-40 days a year it doesn't rain and the sun is out in full force! This was the day of my big adventure as I went on board the Aleutian Ballad, a crab boat that was featured in season two of Deadliest Catch. It has been transformed into a tourist attraction, pulling up crab pots and other forms of sea life. Yes, I had crabs that day... (This is a tanner crab.)
There wasn't much to take pictures off in the Inside Passage, except we sailed right through a pod of very playful dolphins. I took a neat video from the Heli-pad on the bow, but haven't posted it yet. Finally we pulled into Vancouver and said good-bye to the girl that took us safely those many miles between Seward and Vancouver.
We did a couple hour bus tour of Vancouver and we took a few photos of the Olympic Torch that was a couple blocks from Canada Place.
So, that is just a mere sample of the photos I took.
Yes, I did take pictures of the day plate in the elevators every morning, but that was more for me to keep track of what day the pictures were taken on more than anything. (And you will also see what I had for breakfast too. Just because really...)
