I have a job.
It's a decent job. I'm fairly important. I'm good at what I do. I kind of like the paper pushing. I get paid fairly decently.
However, the boss doesn't know how to manage. He has, in the three months he's been around, undermined the authority of the office manager, ogled everything female, and taken a cohesive team and turned us one against the other. Hostile work environment doesn't quite begin to describe the office these days.
So I went shopping. I've been offered another job.
It's new. It's closer to home. It's something I've not tried before. It's office semi-formal. It's nearly a 10k/year pay cut initially. There's room for advancement and I'll (likely) be on the fast track to an office manager position.
I start on Jan 8.
Now here's the kicker.
The head of corporate HR came in last Friday for something completely unrelated. The office manager showed him my resignation letter (in which I was explicit and scathing). She backed it up with complaints of her own. Sir said that he's going on vacation next (this) week, but he feels that he needs to come back. He wishes to speak with me specifically about my complaints. Hence the three weeks notice instead of the more customary two.
I do believe that a counter-offer is in the making.
I wonder what I shall answer?
