The usage I had in mind is somewhat different.
CALLER "here's my bill for the past month, and I see some of the calls I supposedly made are duplicated and double charged"
CLERK: "yes, sir, when you dial and the connection comes through to the answering machine it is included by our equipment, We charge for sub-minute calls"
CALLER "No!! Can you H-E-A-R what I am saying! The entries are exact duplicates. You simply charged me twice"
CLERK "I am very sorry you feel that way, sir, but, sir, we cannot continue conversation you use such tone"
CALLER "Never mind my tone, and drop that psychobabble about my feelings. I am talking about the facts, factual events, not anyone's reactions about those events. You double-charge me!"
CLERK: "sir, I am very sorry, sir, but continuing this conversation would be agains the company policy. Good bye"
Beep-beep-beep-beep...
CALLER (yells into a dead receiver) - "you disgusting motherfuckers, you did not even budge, skinning customers like this, this is disgusting!! FUCK YOU!!!!!"

Соответственно, если надо глупого американца (дрессированного с детства отвечать на вопрос длинным описанием своих feelings (well, I feel angry. I feel violated...)) увести от разговора по существу, задается вопрос "How do you feel about it?"; "Well, [tell me] how you feel about it."; ...
Правда когда я прямо в лицо называл feel-trick намеренным манипулятивным приемом пару раз служащие прекращали им пользоваться.
