Catching Up

Jan 08, 2013 22:41

I read my last few entries, and I thought I'd try to catch you up a little bit. My pregnant cousin never came to live with me -- she stayed in Pennsylvania. :'( It hasn't really worked out so well for her, but she won't leave. I guess I understand, since moving out of state is kinda a big deal. :-P

We DID move in Aug of 2010. We've been living in a much better location for about 2 1/2 years now. I thought about moving somewhere with cheaper rent, but I really don't want to move from this side of town. Too perfect and comfy. I guess I'll just have to work more to help make ends meet. I actually want to buy a house in this area, but I've got to pay down my student loans and other stuff before getting a mortgage will really be feasible. I've got goals in mind at least. ;-)

I still haven't married my fiance, but we're still together and still love eachother. From a financial standpoint it's better for me to be single, so why get married? ..I always thought it was financially rewarding for a couple to get married, but not in our case. We're committed, so I don't feel like I need a piece of paper from the state to make it official anyway. Like buying a house, we'll get there eventually. ;-)

Me and my mom published an ebook last year called "The Full Moon of Charley Rabbit" (I know - I didn't name it). You can find it on Amazon.com and check it out if you want. It's about a clique of vampires. Vampires aren't really my thing but it's been an interesting experience. The next one comes out in 3 or 4 months and it will be called "The Full Moon of Carey Floyd". I probably won't have anything to do with the 3rd book just so I can turn my attention to other things I'd rather be writing. I have ideas constantly! :-)

I got dragged into a RPG Blog on Tumblr by a friend -- it's called The Lights Of London (BBC Sherlock-based RP Blog). I love how literary everyone is on there -- you interact with other characters and take turns writing your side of the story. ..I wouldn't be surprised if there was something similar on LJ somewhere.

Btw, its weird that everything I check out on LJ is in Russian, lol. I've never really went out of my way to connect with others on LJ however, so it doesn't bother me. I know LJ was purchased by a Russian company years ago. It amazes me that all my journal info is perfectly intact in spite of years of neglect!

I spent a good deal of 2012 very ill with a rare migraine disorder called "Abdominal Migraines and Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome" (pleasant sounding, eh?). At one point I had to give myself shots of Sumatriptan to make the migraine attacks stop. My immune system also went haywire and I became allergic to everything. I have a few food allergies too now, and my diet has changed a lot. I don't drink anything except for water and unflavored Perrier now, for example. I can't have any artificial sweeteners, dyes, or flavorings and I can't eat anything that is processed at all b/c I'm allergic to the chemical additives in it. It took about 3 months for my anti-migraine meds to start working and I'm getting better now. I also have at least a year of allergy shots to look forward to. :-P My system is hyper-sensitive for some reason right now. It's really been an eye-opening experience, seeing how much nasty stuff is in the food people eat every day. It's easy not to notice these things unless you become ill every time you ingest something unnatural. I'm even sensitive to my body's own hormones and have to take care not to get too stressed out, etc. Bad food and stress are such a huge part of our culture that it's amazing that everyone isn't sick.

Health is important to me this year. I really want to feel healthy again and to get myself more physically fit (I was unable to exercise for about 6 months because I was chronically ill). I just started back to the gym. I'd love to say I was feeling great, but I'm still in the process of getting better. Avoiding my food allergies and other allergy-type sensitivities which trigger my migraines has helped A LOT, and my migraine-preventing med is working awesomely. I hate taking pills, but I've really come to respect medicine for what it does and I respect my Immunologist/Allergist's directions and actually take things when I'm supposed to. You never know how important that is until you've truly been ill. As I said though, I'm hoping this year is MUCH better than last year and I get over this terrible illness for good. I sincerely hope I never have an abdominal migraine again!

I always thought that health was guaranteed until old age as long as you took good care of yourself. I guess not! I also guess I have to accept the fact that I am middle-aged now that I'm in my early 30's. And sometimes people get sick when they're middle-aged, long before they reach old age.

I'll post again sometime soon.
Lots of Love from "J3SC" :-)
