2 Hunters and a Baby Part 2/?

After Sam had told his brother what he had seen in his vision, namely the street sign and street number of the potential victims, they had immediately made their way to Nebraska. Sam was sure that the demon had not yet struck, but they would have to hurry.

Dean brought Sam, who was still shaky, as inconspicuous as possible from the library into the car. Luckily they were in Akron, Colorado so that they do not even have 200 miles to cover. They were about an hour on the road, when Dean was looking at Sam in the passenger seat. His little brother was asleep. It seemed that his visions were pretty exhausting, not to mention the headaches.

Dean was disturbed by Sam’s vision and the fact that his brother had visions. But the younger one was probably a lot more afraid than Dean himself. And the only thing Dean could do was to make sure that Sam's physical health remained intact, even if he could do nothing against the fact that Sam's psyche was more and more affected through everything that has been going on since Jessica's death.

The older brother slowed the pace a bit and then reached into his pocket for his cell phone. He dialed the number and called his dad. Since Sam and he agreed that it was probably the demon bastard, who killed their mother, Dean thought that he should inform his father. The last thing he knew about him was that he had spent several months in the area of Sacramento. Since that call there was silence again. Sam had tried to reach him, though, just as Dean had almost died a few weeks ago, but he got just to the mailbox and the brothers had to help themselves again.

Dean was happy that Sam and he had re-connected. Their father wanted to be left alone because he thought it was safer to search for the demon that had killed his wife alone. And so at the moment Sam was all he had. So angry he had been on the younger, that he had broken away from their family, he secretly envied Sam for the normal life that he had for a short time. Dean envied Sam’s friendships the solid relationship he had with Jessica. Dean was sorry that Sam had lost that.

Dean never in his life had significant friendships and “relationship” was also a foreign word for him. There were few people whom he trusted and let in. He hadn’t become aware of how lonely he really felt until the time when Sam was in college and he went through the country alone with his dad. So he was sorry that Jessica had died, but he was glad to have his brother back. Yes, Dean was kind of selfish but he vowed to do everything to ensure that Sam could be happy again. Dean wanted normalcy for them all. But he knew that as long as the demon was still out there, no one in his family would ever find peace. Maybe now that they had a lead their dad would come back. Dean let it ring again, but he only got the voice mail. He was so tired. It made him mad, that John had dumoed them. He could understand Sam's behavior towards their father now. For a moment Dean was willing to just hang up, but then thought for a better one. Dean left his father a message, explaining as detailed as possible, what Sam and he had found out. Of course, he didn’t mention Sam's vision. He just did not know how to make his dad understand and was afraid how John would react. Finally he hung up. Sam next to him began to stir slowly.
"Ah, the princess comes back to life and I thought I would have to find a prince somewhere who kisses you awake," he teased Sam. The younger man mumbled something unintelligible. Dean grinned.
"Where are we?" Sam asked his brother.
"Shortly after Sterling. How's your head? "Dean is asked anxiously.
"Fine," Sam assured him.
"What do you think we should do first?," Dean asked him.
"We should talk to the woman. Perhaps she noticed something in the past few days that can help us, "suggested Sam.
"The only question is which identity to choose so the good lady will let us into her house," commented Dean.
"We could go with the truth for a change."
"Yeah Sam! Maybe we will still have enough time to run away before she calls the cops. We want to win her trust not to immediately scare her. "
"Do you have a better suggestion?"
"We should first check their environment before we talk to her. Perhaps we get an idea how we can proceed. "Since Sam couldn’t find an alternative, he finally agreed.

"Have you reached Dad," Sam asked his brother some time later. He knew that Dean was going to inform their father.
"What do you think?," Dean said, and raised his left eyebrow.
"So still nothing," Sam concluded.
"Just the old familiar message on his voicemail."
"But there is still hope that he will call, if he needs our help." Dean did not elaborate on Sam's words, but turned on Metallica. He did not want to talk right now about his dad. The two drove the rest of the way in silence.

At 1 p.m they reached Scottsbluff.
Since they did not know how much time they had, Dean was persuaded by Sam to cancel lunch. Slowly they drove through the city and sought the street in which the woman from Sam's vision lives. Finally, they found the road and stopped just before the house that belonged to Mrs. Ericsson. Sam had found the name of their target person. The house was a typical terraced house and looked exactly like the others in this street. Before Sam and Dean could decide what they wanted to do next, the door opened and Mrs. Ericsson came out of the house with a baby carriage. She looked at the sun and then pulled the hood of the stroller next to the front so that the child was protected from the sun.
"Let's go Jenny," they heard Mrs. Ericsson speak to the little one in the stroller.
"Dude today is our lucky day," Dean said to Sam as he watched in the rearview mirror as Mrs. Ericsson, shoving the stroller, walk down the street. Sam gave his brother a questioning glance.
"Mrs. Ericsson seems to has just decide to take the baby for a long walk. This is our chance to look around at their house, "said Dean.
"How do you know that there is no one else in the house?" Asked Sam.
"You have seen no one else in your vision and I have not heard that she has said goodbye to someone. Also, at this time in a residential area like this there is probably nobody at home. The children are in school and the adults at work. If she has a husband he is not here. "
"What do you hope to find in there?"
"We'll see it when we see it." Dean waited until Mrs. Ericsson was bent around the corner and got out then.
"Do you want to you wait in the car?" He asked his brother who didn’t seem to get out.
"I'm coming," Sam said, annoyed. He was not really inspired by Dean's idea just to break into the house.

Quick both had crossed the road. They walked around the house because they thought it would be better to enter through the back door. After a few skilful hand grips with the lock pick the door opened. Sam had previously verified that there was no alarm system. This area seemed to be so peaceful that the people who lived here, do not felt the need to equip their homes with safety equipment. They entered and found themselves in the kitchen. Everything in the room was clean and tidy. In addition to the sink was a washed up cup for babys.
"There is nothing," said Sam.
"It neither smells of sulfur."
"Dean, did you expect the demon to explore the terrain like we did?"
"Could have been. Who knows how this demon is ticking. "
"While we're here we can have a look at the other rooms too. Especially in the nursery. Dean, what are you doing? "Sam looked incredulously at his brother whose head was placed in the refrigerator.
"Dude, I'm hungry. There could have been something in the fridge which disappearing is not all too noticeable. "
"Jerk!"
"Bitch!" Dean grinned, closed the fridge and went back through the swinging door into the living room. On the couch was a laundry basket full of baby clothes, otherwise this room was just as neat as the kitchen. On the coffee table stood a gift basket full of some relaxation and wellness products. Sam took a quick peek. The basket containing products such as shower gel, massage sponges and incense sticks, which were made of Palo Santo wood.

On the mantelpiece stood a few family photos at which Sam looked in more detail. A wedding photo of Mrs. Ericsson and her husband, one with Mrs. Ericsson, and a baby in her arms, a picture of a little girl who lost the first milk teeth, a different picture of the girls in school enrollment, then one of the girl at her high school graduation. Somehow this girl seems familiar to Sam, even if he doesn’t know why at the moment. Finally, he saw a picture of the current baby. It seemed to have been made in the hospital. Dean came to him.
"Mrs. Ericsson looks still good for her age, but she is certainly not the mother of this little squaller. So who are the parents?" he aked Sam. The younger man pointed to the photo of the girl in the robe.
"I think that Jenny's mother," said Sam.
"Pretty Thing." He went to a dresser and looked through the drawers.
"It seems as if she is the only child of Mrs. Ericsson."
"She was an only child," Dean corrected.
"What do you mean?" Asked his brother confused. Dean handed him a condolence card.

Dear Clara,
The news of the sudden death of Beth has shocked us and makes us speechless. Without warning the death has taken her away from you so soon after Andrew has left us. It is difficult to understand. Although the question of "why" is left unanswered, we still want you to say that you are not alone. Because you know, Beth had a lot of people who cared about her and all these people are mourning her death with you. Especially serious is that little Jenny has to grow up without getting to know her mother. Be sure we will all be determined at this difficult time for you and support you whenever you need us.
Your friends Peter and Julia
