Re. The Scissor Sisters
I can't be sure whether to trust them or not...
They sound like the hot, funky, groovy shit Elton John used to do back in the day, and look like a college Rocky Horror cast lineup. I'm thinking of The Army Of Lovers actually - they're about the only other crazy-ass gender-blending band I can think of offhand... and everyone knows how damn good they were (note - this isn't sarcasm, I liked The Army Of Lovers).
The chick in the band is called Ana Matronic... which just makes me think of Lux Interior and Poison Ivy (which can never be a bad thing).
I want to like them, but I'm afraid of making a musical feux-pas. I'm catching myself thinking they're Har Mar Superstar without the fun; a candy-coated, sham-glam dose of pop-herpes waiting to rot my brain with stale innuendo and catchy hooks.
What do you think? To download more or not to?
