This is the pits (get it?)

I bought tickets to go to the Samsung 500 NASCAR race next weekend. I bought 4 of them with the intention of taking my step-son, Troy, my father-in-law, Gene, and brother-in-law, Nate. It turns out that Nate was given tickets later on that will allow him and Gene to be in the infield. Those tickets are a lot better. It means that he’ll get to go down by the pits and everything. I don’t blame him for wanting those seats (I would love to do that sometime!), but I bought 4 tickets because I wanted the 4 four of us to go together. I never would have bought them if I knew that they were going to back out on me. Now it looks like I’ll be going with my best friend, Joe (yay!), Troy, and Troy’s dad, about whom I have mixed emotions. But Troy asked if his dad could use the extra ticket. What am I going to say? “I don’t really know your dad that well and it would be awkward.”?

This sucks.

I didn’t even think too hard about it until Starr said that her dad was being uncool. Then I thought, “Yeah, I was specific about who I wanted to go with - that’s why I decided to buy the 4 tickets.”

Oh well. Maybe next time. I have too much to worry about already without letting this get me down for long.
