A small snippet that wouldn't leave me alone about the Doogie Howser/House idea. Please read on and tell me what you guys think?
"Doctor House, I'm excited you had an opening in your fellowship and I know it's a very competitive position--"
"Save it." A resume folder was thrown onto the desk in front of him as House leaned on his cane a little more. "You didn't come here to work with others. I read your personal file, Doctor Howser. A big boy like you doesn't need a babysitter looking over your shoulder to make sure you're doing everything you're supposed to do. That's not my job. The real question is why do you think you need one?"
Doogie Howser lost his smile and he sat a little straighter. This wasn't what he was expecting in his interview. He heard House was a bold doctor who said outrageous things to get people to crack but he didn't expect to be treated like he was still sixteen years old and trying to gain residency in a hospital. "I don't--"
"You don't want a babysitter. But you think you need one, and for some insane reason you think I have the patience and the understanding to tolerate you as you go through your quarter-crisis."
"That isn't--"
"I think that you are young, impulsive, and care far too much about what other people think. If you didn't care, you wouldn't have listened to Daddy when he proposed the position. You also wouldn't have traveled across the country for a small time position in a New Jersey hospital when we both know that you could have gotten a higher wage staying where you were." When Doogie opened his mouth to object, House continued on as he reached for his coffee.
"You're hired. You start tomorrow." House downed the rest of his coffee and stood, using his cane to support himself as he limped over to his comfy chair. "If you don't mind, could you leave my office. My show is about to come on."
