I want to write a poem
I want the words to flow from my fingers
I want to make metaphors that make your jaws drop, your heart stop
I want to write the best you've ever heard
I want to be the author of something you've heard
But I'm just sitting here, a computer nerd
I want you to pick up my book and be astonished by my favorite poems
And I want you to pick up my book, read my mediocre poems and be given hope
I want you to say "Man compared to this my poem's dope, and hes published, he's a legend"
But it's just pretend
I want to write more
I want to write more often than when I'm drunk
I want to write more often than when I'm drunk and strike out
I want to write more often then when the words come to me
I want to drag them kicking and screaming from the heavens
I want to rip the words from the mouth of the muse
I want to strap them to the page, and use them, abuse them
I cant wait for them to come to age
So I use them, I take that page and remove them, spew them
I want you to hear them, I want you to revere them
I want you to tell someone you heard them,
I want you to tell someone you liked it because you liked it enough to tell someone you liked it
Even if it's the person that told you about it in the first place
I want to see my name in an index, I want to see my name on a spine
I want to be remembered, I want to be the best of my time
Arguably
I want to be an Icon, even if I'm despised
Even when I'm dead I want to be alive in your hearts and in your mind
You might think I'm selfish
But I'm just trying to share myself
