I pinched this idea from a few friends of mine who have already read so here goes..
What did you do this year that you've never done before?
I travelled to London on my own for the first time to meet up with some echelon friends of mine and we sort of remade our own version of 'The Ride' from 30STM's 'Kings & Queens' video.
Did you keep your New Year's Resolutions and will you make more next year?
My last resolution was to write my diary every day for a year, which I failed miserably, but I strongly intend to give it my all next year.
Did anyone close to you give birth this year?
Nope.
Die anyone close to you die?
No, but I know people who have lost loved ones.
What would you like to have in the next year that you lacked the year?
I would say the confidence to really stand up to my parents properly' I'm nearly 25 and they still seem hell bent on ruling my life...so much so that they still open my mail. No more.
What date from this year will remain etched upon your memory and why?
September 3rd. It marked the first time I had ever travelled to the United States not only to meet a number of echelon friends but also to see a band..30 Seconds To Mars :-)
What was your biggest achievement this year?
I proved to myself that I still had the ability to learn when I completed not one, but two short courses, one in creative writing the other in criminology, sociology and psychology.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
No major illnesses, though I have just about gotten rid of a chesty cough I have had for close to a month, but while watching 30STM in Atlantic City, I got crushed against the barrier and was badly bruised on my thigh. I also had a major panic/anxiety attack and ended up having treatment at the nearby hospital.
What did you get really, really, really excited about this year?
The prospect of meeting so many echelon friends as well as 30STM at my Golden Ticket/VIP show in Aberdeen on December 3rd.
What song will always remind you of this year?
30STM's 'Kings And Queens' - because, after having seen the band 13 times since last November, and having never made it on stage, my VIP ticket finally allowed me to do it. Standing on that stage, surrounded by friends, and looking out at thousands more, it was amazing.
Compared to this time next year are you; happier or sadder, richer or poorer, thinner or fatter?
I'm a lot happier in myself because I finally feel a part of a family, both on here and as a member of the echelon, I am a lot, lot poorer than I was twelve months ago but knowing that funds have gone on some amazing shows that have given me some amazing memories and I'd say I've put on a bit of weight, but not so much that people have said anything.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
Been bolder with my parents and family members. They have really gotten me down at times and I never had the courage to stand up to them and be myself..do what I want.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Work. I've been in retail now since I was 16 and it's not where I thought I would be. I feel I would've been happier taking a whole year off, travelling and seeing the world, but then again, had I done that, I wouldn't have seen so many shows and met so many great people..
Did you fall in love this year?
No; I've never been in love.
What was your favourite TV programme for the year?
I didn't watch much TV this year, but the one show I did watch almost religiously was Pretty Little Liars.
What was the best book you read this year?
I'm going to be honest'; I've read about two or three books this year, and I can't remember their titles. No book really excited or caught my attention.
What's your favourite film of the year?
Some people might not agree with this but I loved The Last Song. I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan and, although not a big fan of Miley Cyrus, she did a great job in this. I was on the verge of tears by the end of it.
Who's the best new person you met this year?
I loved meeting my US Echelon friend Kelly from NY. She was so bubbly, energetic and full of beans, that I couldn't help but enjoy spending time with her. I hope to meet her again sometime in 2011.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you've learned for the year?
That life is short, and that it should be lived by your rules and no one else's. It is up to YOU to make the decisions that will lead you into new adventures, to meet new people and to discover the real joys in life.
