Since 1963, only blind individuals have legally been allowed to be masseurs in South Korea. A new policy allows sighted people to perform certain types of massage.

And what I don't understand is that several masseurs were threatening to jump off a bridge, presumably to their death, in protest of the new policy. Either they are so community-focused that the sacrifice doesn't matter to them, or they are crazy.

Which leads me to wonder another thing. Is it scarier or less scary to jump off a bridge when you are blind. You can't see how far it is, so it might be less scary. But you also have no idea how far it is - like jumping into a bottomless pit, so it could be more scary. I would think that when you are blind, you get used to risk-taking, because you constantly have to put yourself in new and unknown situations, so maybe it's less scary overall.
