What: Taipei, Taiwan
When: June 12-13, 2010
Why: Jay Chou's concert + First timers off to Taipei
Cast: Me, Chinggu, Joli, Terry, Julie & Friends, My officemates Maya and Justine
What really happened: Amazing Race!!!
Considering my carelessness for details, our flight was booked from June 11, 2010 (22:30) bound to Taipei and June 14, 2010 (01:25) back to Manila. Which means I only have 2 days to spend in Taiwan.
After a whole day’s meltdown at work, Maya, Justine and I rode a cab from Ortigas (Work) to Terminal 3. We had dinner at 8pm while Justine had to do a away with a bottle of sake before taking off. While eating at a Japanese Restaurant inside Terminal 3, the usual topic came out from Jay our manager to Christine to Kumag. We went to the boarding gate 20 mins before it opened. As we get on to the plane, Justine was totally knocked out while Maya and I had a hard time falling asleep.
We arrived Taiwan at around 00:40 and officially passed the immigration at around 1:15AM. We were suppose to go to Terminal 2 but the last shuttle to T2 is at 1:10. So we were stuck in the Airport and had nothing to do but sleep on the chairs. I was suppose to get a handfull of Tourist Guide MAP with Jerry’s picture on it. I couldn’t find any of it on the way out so I tried looking around the desks and counters beside the chairs. Luckily, I found a stack of the MAP and grabbed around 2-3 inches thick worth of MAP Guides. =)
We arrived Taipei at around 7:00, ate some breakfast and went to the hotel to freshen up.

We met Julie’s friends and of course Terry. It was a rainy morning in Taipei and my feet was soaked wet. But this didn’t hinder me from squealing when I saw my merchandise all bought by Terry =)!!!

At around 10am, we went straight to Long Shan Temple and I did some rituals there while my other friends gave up on me and took pictures instead. Justine, my officemate finished the ritual though and also did some ‘chou qian’. “Chou Qian” is something you do if you want to ask the gods something you’re uncertain of. It’s like fortune telling, and it’s up to you really if you’re going to believe it or not, but it’s fun and it can serve a guide to you when you’re lost (in faith, in goal and in love…) Anyway, we spent almost one hour and a half to do all those things and I was quite relieved when we’re done ‘coz all the smoke was killing me. O_O…

Took some pictures here and there, did some water splashing here and there… We spent so much time taking pictures that we had only less than 30 minutes to tour the museum underground. We had to run to Mr. J ‘coz our reservation is at 2pm. We wouldn’t want to lose that reservation as the restaurant is jam packed with fans waiting outside. Yes, it’s jam packed.
Next Stop: Mr. J and Mr. Qute
Had a nice risotto at Jay’s Mr. J. It was yummy!!! I’ll order it next year, again. =) Had the chance to stay at the VIP room ‘coz there were 10 of us. Took some pictures with Jay peeking at a hallway (Faraway MV) and we also took a shot of our super WINNER tickets to Jay Chou’s The Era Concert. Then, bought a take out of Mr. Qute’s sweets and then off we go to Phantaci and Leftfoot.

There’s just one stupid thing I did before I was able to reserve the CORRECT DATE and TIME. Well, it was May 11, 2010 and I was in the office thinking of my itenerary. I thought I will do everything in advance so I won’t be cramming when that day comes. I reserved for 10 pax on June 11, 2010 at 1:30pm at Mr. J. I was so proud of myself that I was clever enough to book 1 month ahead. Because I’m sure many fans will be eating at Mr. J when June 11-13 comes. So here comes June 9 and I was checking everything from Tickets to Reservations and I was strucked with an idea that I had the wrong booking. I don’t know what has gotten into me so I checked my reservation at Mr. J and guess what? I reserved the wrong date! It should be June 12, 2010 not June 11. Super tanga talaga, I immediately called Mr. J and luckily they still have a 2pm slot. xD tsk tsk… I lost confidence with myself so I was really depressed that whole day.
Next Stop: Phantaci and Leftfoot
Okay, Phantaci is closed and Leftfoot is nowhere to be found. We spend almost an hour and soaked ourselves again in water just to find these places. Losers.
Next Stop: Taipei 101
As the three of us (Julie, me and Terry) are off to the concert, we sent off our first timers to the station where they can find Taipei 101 and left them there. We headed back to the hotel to freshen up and prepare the banners.
Hotel:
Had to take a shower and wear our Jay T-shirt while Terry prepared the light panels. Half an hour passed, I tested the light panels and the damn lights won’t work for the ‘Bin’ word. We were suppose to hold up ‘fei’ ‘lu’ ‘bin’… one each… but now it looks like we have to settle for zaizai’s covered “feilubin” which was bought by the ASOS 4 years ago. Anyway, I got frustrated so Julie did some quick thinking on how to connect the LEDs that were loosen while it was carried from Manila to Taipei. In the end, since I didn’t bring any soldering iron and lead, Julie asked for a wire. I was eyeing on the telephone wire, but Julie was quiet. So I didn’t bother to consider… but then I was getting so frustrated that I mentioned the damn telephone wire again. She still kept silent about my suggestion. Until I remembered I have a cheap earphones in my bag. I took it out and pulled out the phones… lo and behold we have a wire! When everything’s in place, we RACED to the MRT station and RACED again from MRT station to the Taipei Arena.
We arrived almost just in time, we still had time to take some pictures before the concert. =)
The concert started with the 360 degrees revolving animation which can be seen in youtube.

*Check us out at 0:11 onwards, you'll see a bright blue light at the left, that's our Feilubin banner...*
I won’t go into detail with what happened in the concert, all I can say it was a BLAST! I had to rewatch some clips from youtube to remember everything. All that I felt is that I was singing along with Jay, in his concert, with our banner up high… and spirits so high I didn’t remember what really happened in between those songs. *hahaha* I was really starstrucked. We were 5 meters away from the stage for crying out loud, when jielun keeps on waving at you, how would you feel???

The three of us were just sooo lucky to be there. Of course it won’t happen without a little help from my Taiwanese Jacky Cheung Fan friend, Sarah. I owe these seats to her. Without her extra fast broadband (not that fast but faster than mine), We wouldn’t even get a good seat!

Anyway the highlight of this concert was that Julie won our bet… Yes, congrats Julie-ah! Ikaw na tlaga… ikaw na… Then, achie sent me an SMS saying I guessed the first song right (Dragon Rider) . When Capricorn album came out, I was thinking Dragon Rider would make a good entrance song, I didn’t expect it to be overshadowed by a 4D animator, but I was thinking he would come into the stage like “In the Name of The Father”… sooooo kakkoiii!!! I was a bit disappointed on that but anyhoo, it was a good opening song choice.
*Check out the faint yellow lights on the lower right...*

Wo bu pei came up and here’s the video:
(Take note around 0:16 and 1:17 you’ll see yellow swaying banners beside a blue swaying banner as well, that’s the three of us)

I was also amazed by the Encore and series of songs, Jay chose the classic songs instead of those new songs that wouldn’t even fit in to the setlist. He had a good setlist this time, Kudos Jay! You didn’t let us down. Wala nga lang “Lan Ting Xu” but I didn’t even notice that until after the concert =)
Jian Dan Ai, Kai Bu Liao Kou, Long Juan Feng, Yi Fu Zhi Ming and the rest of the classics, it was sugoi,. Jay. Hountoni sugoii desu!
In the middle of the singing brouhaha though, of course Jielun had to talk a bit… so he went talking after the song “Free Promotional Videos” and before the song “Time Machine” which is my SONG for this entire concert.
He started greeting the Taipei Fans:
Jay: Taipei de peng you o….
(the crowd cheers)
Jay goes to our opposite side and said:
Jay: Han Guo de peng you o…. (Korean friends…)
Then he started squinting and said:
Okay, qi ta de peng you, jiu kan bu dao ni men le, she ying shi ying gai hui pai ni men de o…
(Okay, for the others, I can’t see you that clearly so let the cameraman do his job, alright?)
Then he went to our side:
Ri Ben de peng you o… (Japanese Friends…)
Then he took a step forward, then squinted and slowly said:
Aiyo…Fei… Lu… Bin de peng you o… (Philippine friends…)
(So the place was bright but I thought it went dark for a moment and all I can hear is three girls jumping and screaming and Jielun looking at us… It was synchronized, without any translation, my two companions, Terry and Julie knew we were about to be called and stood up right at that moment…. True enough Jay, music is still the best language…)
We were dumbfounded for seconds then I heard Jay said: “Okay, next song is “Shi Guang Ji” (Time Machine)” I thought he said some other song that I wasn’t familiar with. I kept thinking what Shi Guang Ji is, that’s when I realized tears were streaming down my face. I was singing to “Na tong nian de xi wang shi yi tai shi guang ji, wo ke yi yi lu kai xin dao ni dou bu huan ji, dai zou qing ting, chuan guo na shen lin…” Then I accidentally looked at the other two, we unconsciously wiped a tear from our right cheek, all at the same time. It was such a touching song for a touching moment. ‘Coz we need that Time Machine to rewind that very special moment when Jielun finally recognized us… His fans from the Philippines.
Backtrack: It was a long road traveled. I remembered when I watched my first Incomparable concert in July 1, 2005. We bumped into Ju Pao (Music Director of The One, Incomparable, 2007 World Tours and The Era Concert) and told him we’re from the Philippines, at the same time, we were talking to one of Jay’s dancers and she recognized us 2 years after. (You might recognize her ‘coz she was always focused in The Incomparable) In December 2007, the MSPs had an all out support to Jielun and watched a 2-night concert in HK. There, we called Jay’s attention at the Yellow Gate, we took our place at the very front of the railings where nobody will miss our banner w/ a Fei Lu Bin on it. Jay went directly inside his van, he looked like he was looking for something, but apparrently it looked like he’s just keeping himself busy in the car. We kept shouting Jielun Happy New year and Jielun Merry Xmas, with every shout, he kept waving at us then he will go back to what he’s looking for. Funny… The dancer also saw me and my sisters and waved at us. After so many years, she still remembered us.
Now in Taipei, it is our last chance to prove ourselves to Jielun. That even though we are few, we are faithful all the way. It was a dream come true to be mentioned to the whole stadium… Of course others will think it’s something ordinary but to us, it’s special. The nameless warriors have spoken their PRIDE… the banner which I insisted on doing even though there’s not much time, the banner which Julie insisted on fixing even though there’s not much time… We are the nameless warriors, and all those who were left behind in Manila, we brought them with us as we showed Jay our presence! We were so touched, we wanted to be remembered… even in just 1 concert. Coz we are Jay’s fans, and he’s a good inspiration to all of us. He is THE ONE, The Incomparable, The one who will not easily fall down…
Jay waved several times at us and I didn’t even bothered to count. After I heard that Shuang Jie Gun is coming up, I knew this is the end of what I was looking forward since January 2010. It was a good concert, I gave Jay a thumbs up sign~ We ended up eating MOS Burger and took a cab home.
After which, Terry went to our room and we both ate our Mr. Qute cakes over pictures. =)) Had a few jay spazzin' and ended the morning with Jay in our heads.

Had to wake up early in the morning and go to Taipei 101 with Terry. We missed the 101 trip yesterday ‘coz we have a concert to attend to… *naks* We took a 30-minute walk from Taipei Shi Zheng Fu station to New York New York then Taipei 101. Since it’s still early, we just took pics outside and went straight to Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park.
At the Park, we had to donate 200NTD to be able to go in, it’s all for charity baby so we gave in. Met up with Chinggu and Joli there and was really in front of the stage before Vanness came out. When he came up, we kept screaming Philippines and Mahal kita~ He was waving and smiling at us as well. We followed him until he reached his car. While following him, we kept shouting “Ching Ching… asan ka???” Coz we were afraid Ching would be left behind… mohahaha… Shy girl. Anyway, when Vanness rode his car and is about to leave, a fan stopped his car and said that someone wanted to take his picture. Vanness immediately got off the car and went to the guy in wheelchair. I heard an “awwww…” from the background. Later I found out that it was Terry who blurted the ‘aww…’ hahaha… Vanness posed and it took about several minutes after the photo-op was done, so while taking pictures, I sneaked in and joined the fiasco!
So… TADAAAA…
It was so fabulous I really had a great morning. Vanness was sooo kind but I felt guilty sneaking into the picture. What the heck, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity anyways…

It was raining hard and we didn’t enjoy anything there. We’re suppose to walk the Old Street, go to the Fisherman’s Wharf and Tamkang University but we ended up at Oxford. The damn leaflet was misleading ‘coz it said that’s where the Secret was filmed. Damn tourist leaflets. I should’ve followed what the blogs said. Demmit.

Anyway the good thing was, I took some pictures with people in yellow raincoats looking like posing condoms. *rotfl*

Went back to Ximending to finish off my shopping spree.
Had dinner at Modern Toilet first... Yes the food is great, unique serving concept, but if you really try to imagine where you're eating from... uhh...oh so gross?!

Wrote a Happy Independence Day in a piece of 20-Peso Bill signed by us four who ate at the restaurant. This was inserted into the bathtub "table" and can be seen at the 3rd floor, left wing of the restaurant, first table to your left.
Had to go to Rose Music and buy “Down With Love” NTD 1200++ only. Then there’s Love Storm which I was really amazed that it only cost NTD99… SHIT! I won’t say no for this one! Hahaha… Then I went to Sophisca and bought every little pink thing, packaging and candy I can see there. Took pictures with DWL promotional pics as well… *lolz*

10:00pm, we have to back to the airport. I got 4 hand carries and 2 check in baggages. Arriving Manila, my Norwegian/Pinay officemate insisted that even though she’s holding a Norwegian passport, she’s still a Filipina so she’s allowed to fall in line at the Philippine Passport holders… well… in the end, she had to fall in line again~

It was a long day. My feet still soaked from the heavy rain, I wore my Ondoy-ed Jay-designed Nike PHANTACi shoes to Manila without any complaints. I should've bought a back-up...tsk tsk~ I felt so tired when I came home and didn’t even bother to take a shower.
