Friday I see a sale paper for Sears showing a nice 150psi 33Gal tank Air compressor for 299.00 on sale from 350.00 and with 100.00 in free tools with it. So I got up early on 4 hours of sleep at 6am to get there when it opens so they don’t run out. I’ve needed an air compressor for working on the truck and now I don’t have to go anywhere to do it!
Well pleasant surprise #1 was that my yearly bonus hit the bank Saturday instead of Monday! Woot! So I get the thing, a huge box loaded by a few dock goofs. As they lift it into my Suburban, I ask where the tools are. They tell me in the box and I say fine.
It turns out they were not and it was rung up wrong. Bleah! At least from 7a, to 12pm was an extra 15% off so I got it all said and done for like 269.99 (I think) even though I had to go back for the air tools.
Then I went to Home Depot and get some electrical stuff because I’m putting it in the basement next to the steps and there’s no power there. I decided to run it off it’s own small sub-breaker panel and get it all together and wire it all to handle 60amps although the breaker is set for 20amps.
Then I go to patch it into my main and remember I have a special type of panel and breakers the power companies used to install in the 50’s called (I think) Federal Pacific or some such. In the end it means 50.00 for even a simple breaker! So now I’m thinking of buying a few 200amp panels and redoing it all that night!
At 8 when I reached the stopping point due to lack of expensive breaker, my manager calls to tell me something happened over the weekend and I need to send someone a report. Oops,I didn’t bring my laptop home so I drove out to work to get it. On the way, I talk to a friend from that side of town who happens to be an electrician and also happens to have a 50 amp breaker for my kind of panel! Problem solved!
Sunday morning I was up and running! Wooo!
With friends moving into the downstairs unit I was faced with the purchase of a few things needed. Many light fixtures to spruce up the basement and make it more inviting to do messy projects down there. For the apartment they are moving into, I bought new light fixtures, ceiling fan, etc. also needs a new toilet and shower surround this week. It’ll be nice to have it all done and I can relax some then.
Sunday was also a day I helped a friend move his GF into his house. And sometime after that I remember another friend will be moving the Saturday before Christmas! Bleh! Well, no matter, it has to be done and so be it.
Soon - The adventure of kitchen and bath installation in attic apartments!
