ankewehner ’s prompt of “…I’d be interested in seeing something about the Dragon States…”
“Tez, what is that thing covered in, plates of pure silver?” Maria asked. She raised her hand to shield her eyes from the overwhelming glare of the sun reflected off the ziggurat towering over five hundred feet above them. At the top of the structure was the gleaming, golden figure of a dragon, curled lazily on a shaded platform, greeting supplicants as they finished the long climb up the stairs.
“I doubt there’s that much silver on this continent,” Tez said. “No, it’s clad in what’s called stainless steel, which isn’t exactly, but is very resilient. Not to mention expensive and difficult to manufacture with local technology.”
She looked at the steeply angled stairs with dismay, her hand stroking the slight bulge in her belly. “And we’re going to have to climb all the way to the top to just ask to be heard?”
“Oh, no,” Tez said, with a familiar cheer that set off warning alarms in her mind. “We’re going to make him come to us.”
