So we made a baby.

Yep, looks like a baby happened!

Allyson Joy Funk was born in a log cabin that she built with her own two hands on July 28, 2008 at 1:16 in the afternoon.

Kris and I went in that morning to get induced at 6am. They had her on pitocin by 7:15 or so and was having what should have been very painful contractions, but she didn't feel them. Not at all, until like 11:30, when she's like "oh that's a little bit of a cramp". By 12:30, it was OHMYGODGETITOUT GETITOUT GETITOUT, and only 45 minutes of hell later Allyson was out and screaming about getting her first bath. Oh, she did not like that. I was fortunate enough to give it to her, though...I think she likes me. I can't tell. And she can't talk.

She seems so lifelike. She also seems much more aware of her surroundings than all the books say she is. For instance, tonight I laid her down in her crib (which is a new thing to her...she wasn't in it before she was like 9-10 days old, and she's two weeks old today) and she kind of laid there, all awake. I heard her get the hiccups on our baby monitor (which when they're plugged into the wall, they pick up radio stations...but with batteries they're fine) and went to look in on her. She was laying on her back, staring at the shadows that the crib casts, caused by the lamp I left on. With her hands and legs in the air, making shadow puppets. I swear that's what she was doing. But she's 14 days old, and today is her due date - she's not even supposed to be one days old yet.

So that's my kid, smartest one in the room. Only kid in the room, but that means nothing. :)
