OK so I have this Bon Jovi song, maybe you've heard of it, called "Living on a Prayer", that the editing is terrible and it drives me nuts. Maybe someone can tell me if it's just crappy editing in the version I have or if the studio version really has these awful editing issues.
The first happens in the bridge. I'll post the lyrics and show you what I mean...
Weve got to hold on ready or not
1-2-3-4, 1-2-3-4
You live for the fight when its all that youve got
1-2-3-4, 1-2-3
Ohhhhhh
WHOA! Stop the music! Seriously, stop the song.
Where'd count 4 go? They've been doing this quarter-triplet thing several times in the song, but this time it's like everyone forgot the tom rimshot on count 4.
On top of it, it's a key change - a totally unprepared drop modulation - and the chorus has some, while not exceptionally egregious like the above, it's pretty bad editing there, too. Twice they sing the full chorus before the song fades, and it's out on the third time. What's insane is after each chorus, the 4th beat on every 8th measure gets cut short, it's like they quit singing and someone had to find a way to loop and fade the chorus. Was Sambora drunk or something?
Some bad editing ruins what's otherwise the best song Bon Jovi ever did. Oh well.
