Specter becomes a Democrat
Interesting.
Senator Arlen Specter has always been one of the more interesting political figures around. Responsible for the crackpot single bullet theory in terms of JFK's death, and one of the fine, fine American men who dragged Anita Hill through the mud during the Clarence Thomas hearings, he has also parted ways time and time again with some of the more idiotic and purely partisan crapola moves by the Republicans. He's facing a stiff primary battle next spring in his home state of Pennsylvania, and so he may have switched sides merely to save his rotund political ass. But still....

I have to say that if I had to pick a headline that would shock me today--given the outbreak of sneezing piglet syndrome--I didn't expect that it would be about a politician switching parties.
