King Kong
Okay, I'm no longer angry about the fact that Chronicles of Narnia was so disappointing. King Kong more than made up for it because it was just great! Reasons why I love this movie:
- the relationship between Ann and Kong wasn't a creepy bestiality thing, it was more like a friendship. Ann liked Kong because he was innocent and pure, much like a child. Kong liked Ann because she was pretty and sweet.
- the special effects were spectacular, but also stylish and the scenery and cinematography was just gorgeous. King Kong, especially, was well done.
- the acting was good. Naomi Watts was just amazing in this role. I doubt she'll be recognized by the oscars, but she doesn't really need to be. Jack Black, who I thought might ruin parts of the movie, actually did a good job pulling off his role, and I was very happy with it.
- you don't see Kong until an hour into the movie, so there's this gradual build up to it.
- the first scene with the natives on the island. Fucking creepy, and it scared a lot of the kids in the theater.
- New York...holy shit they made 1930's New York look fucking awesome!
And that's I'll say without giving too much away. Go see it. It's definitely a theater movie and it's well-worth the money.
