I saw it yesterday... sorta didn't like it either. I mean, it was pretty and had some good special effects and everything like that. And I heard some people say it was the best movie ever (because it stayed so close to the book or something like htat). Personaly, I've never read the books so I didn't judge my opinion on anything like that. But I hated all the kids (except for the youngest girl, she was pretty nice... the rest of them all had some major personality flaw in them that made me want to smack them around). And I don't get why they were made kings and queens of Narnia - it felt like they got to be like that because they were "humans" and for no other reason than that. They did nothing, it seems like. Particularly the girls - they really did nothing. Oh, the little girl went around and healed people - that's it for them. And the older brother fought the queen for a while until the lion showed up again. But that boy and his sword... oh my gods! I wanted to teach him how to hold the damn thing so he'd stop making a fool of his arrogant bastard self! Okay, so here's the thing then, I guess : I had problems with the story. Which means i'd probably have problems wit hteh book. Because I liked some of the characters (but barely any of the main ones) but didn't like the story, and how easily the kids forgot about going home (they're concerned about getting home all throughout the movie, and then a crown gets put on their head and they're all like "oh, home, what's that? Never existed, of course! We're staying here. Because we're royalty! All hail us!"

GAh. I'll stop bitching. But I expected something to rave about (because everyone was raving about it and loved the books and blah blah blah) and then I go and watch it and throughout the whole thing I can only think of criticism for the thing. They had such great potential (they really did, that's what's so disappointing about the thing is that they were almost there and just got so close to the mark but failed to reach it entirely and so that's more disappointing than a movie that doesn't even get close to reaching it's potential).

the music was good though. I enjoyed the music a lot. if you download it, send it my way.

Exactly! See, when I read the book, it was so cool. I think maybe the story is just better when you read it, but on film it just seems a little ridiculous. The movie rushed things, and you didn't really get a sense of why or what was going on, really. It was just "oh, this is supposed to happen, so it does."

Blargh...I'm very upset that Tilda Swinton's role as Jadis was wasted!

she did do a pretty good job. a little over the top a few moments, but hardly noticable. I was upset about her winter outfit though - that huge tube-like protrusion from her chest and shoulders/back. From the front it looked fine... from the back it looked like she was a hump-back trying to hide her hump with excessive stiff fabric. So I was a little sad about that (made her look ugly when she was trying so hard to look good).
