I just can't find the right monologue for my Hanover audition on Friday! I need two contrasting monologues... and they want them to be slightly physical, directed outward, and URGH!!!! So i decided to do "Audition" by Matthew Calhoun--the one I did for Ripples. but i needed to cut it down (dramatically) it didnt work...but I shaved about 1 minute off of it. then i had 5 other monologues in mind for my dramatic peice... a monologue from "Two Rooms", "Oleanna", "The Diary of Anne Frank", "Othello", and "Spine". Well, I kinda rulled out Spine because it's over 2 minutes long and both monologues can't exceed over 4 minutes. so i asked Mr. Shephard and he said to use Oleanna because, while its used a lot in college, not many high school students use it, and it's a big contrast to Audition, which is very unfocused and physical and humerous. Oleanna is very focused and very direct, its very skilled in use of language, and it's just a good contrast. SOOOOO i decided i would go with it. NOW!!! i have a major problem...do i use Carol's "Why do you hate me?" monologue where she talks about John (the teacher) being subject to her power or the "The issue is not what i 'feel'" monologue where she describes how John's actions are wrong.... goodness!!! i hate auditions!!! i hate doing monologues. why couldn't we do just ONE monologue? why does there have to be a contrast?
this is stressing.
okay, i gotta work on my audition.
