where to begin? wherever i start, there's no way around the fact that it's an hour later. i do hate that i lost an hour last night just by laying in bed asleep. but some things are inevitable, and the passing of time is one of them. and frankly, waking up at the expense of one hour is better than the alternative, at least for now.
so much has happened and i feel a strong obligation to write it all, but i know i just don't have the interest or attention span in blogging a full travel journal and cultural analysis from our trip to ireland. aside from the boys throwing rocks at us and calling us "faggots" just hours after we had arrived, all because we walked into a store and bought a bottle of wine, things were marvelous. we had a blast, quite a bit of it drunken, and aside from our excursions to many a bar and pub, we did take time to see some of the sights and learn more about the nation's history. ireland is a beautiful place, and there's much to see that we just didn't make (or have) time to see. i'd like to return, though with a clearer plan to see the countryside.
we had the chance to meet a lj friend who i only just heard of the week prior to our trip; he got in touch with me and the rest was history. it was actually really unprecedented for me, meeting someone i essentially had no knowledge of at all. he hadn't been my lj friend prior to this, and i hadn't read anything of his. so virtually a stranger, until we met on grafton st. and that was that.
jack (
orange_foam) was awesome, and showed us to a lovely dinner spot named market bar. the food was excellent but above all else, the company was stellar. i'm so glad we got in touch and were able to meet, and that moreover, we were able to help him celebrate his birthday on our last night in dublin. it was such fun, and i hope he comes to visit soon.
bottom line: ireland was expensive. our wallets won't soon be forgetting the journey, either. but it was well worth the cost, and there is no price you can put on the fun and experience we had there.
click to see the album so anyhow.
we're home now, the week was very busy, but the weekend has allowed us time to slow down.
i was in fort wayne wednesday and thursday, and detroit friday, with plans to drive to cincinatti once i got back to fort wayne friday evening...but the snow storm that barreled through ohio canceled those plans, and instead i came home. so that afforded me some good time to just chill, listen to some music, watch some movies, and catch up on work. we also went shopping briefly yesterday and i can't rave enough about yankee candle company's new fragrances "island spa" and "lemon lavender". mmmm. (i knew about the former for a couple of months and have had a little jar, but the latter has been a pleasant surprise and a great smell in the house!)
this week i get to stay home all week, but we're heading to fort wayne to celebrate st. patty's day with dave's family next weekend. the following weekend is easter and my parents' place, and two weeks after that, i think they may have a birthday party for foster's second birthday. so crazy that he's two years old!
discovered a musician while in ireland, his name is tom baxter. a bit mellow and some terribly cliche lyrics, but we ended up at a concert of his and i thought he was incredible as a live performer, and his voice quality was outstanding. i recommend him to everyone. check him out.
speaking of music, i am embarrassed to admit that the new paula song has me moving. i love it. and i love the notion of an 80s dance-pop comeback, complete with tracks that have a full dance break in them (so long as it isn't blake lewis-style dancing. blecch.). and what with new kylie and janet, now is the time. bring it on bitches.
last but not least, it is my easter duty to make sure you are informed of the most amazing easter candy that exists, which i just discovered last year and have literally been waiting for since supplies sold out last spring:
click for more and to order seriously, the best f-ing candy you can get for easter. and though logic would rule against me sharing that information with you, increasing the likelihood of a diminishing stock and thus, less available for me, i feel it is so important that you experience this goodness that i've thrown logic out the window and want you to know that this is the candy for you.
so while you're ordering, feel free to ship one or 20 my way.
address available upon request. (and for a select few, i request you deliver it personally.)
Our love has changed,
It’s not the same,
And the only way to say it -
Is say it - It’s better.
I can’t concede,
This way I feel,
For all the time we spent, together,
Forever - Just gets better.
See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things - better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here - it’s better.
I’ll stand by you,
If you stand by me.
I think time that I, reveal it,
‘Cos I believe it -
It’s better.
See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things - better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here - it’s better.
Ooooh the more - I - talk - to - you
The more in love with
Ev - ry - thing - you - do
Doo doo doo doo doo doo (hum chorus)
See what I’m trying to say is:
You make things - better
And no matter what the day is,
With you here - it’s better.
Our love has changed
It’s not the same
And the only way to say it -
Is say it - It’s better
