infinite writing meme!
i'm doing a meme bc i'm so bored .___. i totally did this before but i only put super junior answers so i wanna do this for infinite :3 i just chose relevant questions out of the original meme~ i'm sorry for clogging up the flists of people that duncurr about my writing muses but there's like a bit of fic in this i guess? :D
1. What kind of fanfiction do you like to write?
i like to write happy fic! mostly bc i don't like to get myself sad and other people sad, i maintain that fic should make people happy >:( which is why i haven't written angst ever for infinite. hehe i have one coming up though... sorta :B
2. Do you tend to write the same pairings/characters? Or are you a fandom whore?
i write a LOT of woohyun. lmao i just took a look at my infinite masterlist and it's basically woohyun/someone woohyun/someone woohyun/someone woohyun/someone myungyeol woohyun/someone woohyun/someone myungyeol woohyun/someone. definitely because i like woohyun best and i think i'm most comfortable with my headcanon of woohyun and i think i'm confident re: his characterization. like e.g. i don't write sungjong much (at all) because i.. frankly don't know much about that kid, only a superficial understanding that makes for cardboard cutout characterization i guess, lol. yeol is also difficult - some people find L hard to write, i think, but yeol is harder for me bc that boy has /so many sides/ to him. he's funny, crazy, a little eccentric, but also kind, perceptive, interesting, hardworking, determined. there are so many things you can say about yeol and i don't think i'm confident enough to get into his head yet.
3. What is your most popular fanfic and why do you think people like it so?
i've got pretty consistent feedback on all my infinite fics, so i can't answer this question :(
4. Forget other people... what is the fanfic you've written that you're most proud of?
out of my posted fic it's definitely "as nam woohyun → ∞". it started out as a "WOOHYUN META FIC" bc i didn't agree with a part of fandom's characterization for woohyun, and i wanted to write what i saw. it was also very very hard to write - the woogyu, 2woo, wooL parts were easy, the words came easily lol but i was shaky on the woojong and the wooya, especially, because these two don't have much interaction (or i haven't seen much). but honestly i didn't see it as much of a "woohyun/everyone" fic than a "development of woohyun" fic throughout his trainee period, and i decided this would come through more clearly through the members' perspective because i didn't think woohyun's change was conscious.
5. Do you find writing easy? Hard? What are the most difficult aspects of writing?
writing infinite is definitely refreshing, because they're so new and everything's uncharted horizons etc etc etc. suju ficdom is waning in comparison, and i think a small part is because it feels like /everything/ has been done, but there's so much more still for infinite. which is why i keep writing infinite these days, writing them is really interesting. :DDD but difficult sometimes because i don't know these boys as well as i know suju, so i'm not sure how some of them might react when faced with a certain situation.
6. Write a few sentences or so of your favorite pairing or character.
"you ate, yet?" woohyun throws his keys in the bowl on the table. dongwoo shakes his head.
woohyun loosens his tie and falls onto the sofa, on top of dongwoo's legs. "i'm so fucking pooped," he mumbles into dongwoo's thigh, "can we just get delivery or something."
"okay," dongwoo picks up his mobile phone, "sundubu jjigae?" he's already punching in the numbers for the delivery place that makes the best sundubu jjigae before woohyun replies.
"yes please," woohyun mumbles, and rolls over on his side to smile up at dongwoo.
the jjigae arrives after woohyun's fallen asleep, and dongwoo's thigh is numb when he moves woohyun's head to get up for the delivery. woohyun rouses with squinted eyes and a swallow.
dongwoo tosses chopsticks at woohyun, and they eat, watching music bank and woohyun sings along and sprays jjigae at dongwoo and dongwoo just laughs.
7. Are there any fanfiction trends/cliches that you're sick of?
i don't think infinite have enough fic to have cliches, and i definitely haven't read enough infinite fic, lol but i've seen non-fic posts about how woohyun's an arrogant bastard (like lol do you even watch the guy), dongwoo's a five year old idiot (same problem that plagues donghae UGHHHH), myungsoo's a ~mysterious unsmiling cold city man~ and sungjong's a girl and those do get on my nerves. i hope infinite fic doesn't catch on to these :(
9. Are you guilty of any of these? Or have you committed other crimes?
i haven't written any of these, or at least i haven't purposefully done so - i'm not a skilful writer so idk maybe sometimes things come across unlike how i intended them to ;~~; but i have written pointless happy fic, idk if that's a crime lol
10. Name your OTPs or most frequently written pairings/characters and explain what it is about them that you love to write.
i write a lot of woogyu, lmao i find woogyu SO EASY to write, especially when it comes to happy fic. woogyu have also a very interesting dynamic, which makes for interesting storytelling imo. like my otp is 2woo, but like.... tbh, they're just bros to me. bros who rely on each other for support sometimes, bros who find each other's company comfortable, and they're close enough to go to each other happily, but not instinctively. it's just... not a layered relationship like woogyu have that makes for interesting fic.
I WISH I COULD WRITE MORE 2WOO >:( they get zero fic.
12. What would you call your writing "style"?
lol happy? idk i write a lot of short, fluffy pointless things because i have the attention span of a fly. mostly because i don't have much ideas for fic that can be drawn out. i also write a lot of crack, because crack makes me happy. i love it when i settle on a starting sentence and an ending sentence that has a punch. :3
13. Do you read other people's fanfics? If so, what do you find yourself reading the most?
i do! i read happy fic, always. i just try to stay away from sad fic, unless the writer doesn't put a genre description and i find the summary interesting, because i don't like to read sad fic and make myself sad :( i also like character study fic when it's woven into the fic seamlessly so it doesn't feel like meta instead (that sometimes throws me out of the fic), and i like interesting aus. pairings-wise i will read any sort of 2woo, myungyeol, yadong, and i read woogyu, woohyun/anyone else, dongwoo/anyone else when the description is interesting~
except when your fic is (a) on a customized comment page because guise i'm old ok i can't see shit when you have grey 1/2-pt text on cream backgrounds, (b) sad, or (c) porn involving maknae line and/or sungyeol. idk i just see them as bbs
14. Name one thing you'd LOVE to write but haven't yet.
domestic 2woo like i have up there. an epicly long 2woo detailing them from trainee to debut to disbandment to post-infinite to old age and growing familiar with each other, almost like water (i.e. you see it everyday but you don't think to be thankful for it?). I REALLY WANT TO WRITE SOMETHING LIKE THIS, but i don't think i have the stamina for it.
i am also DYING to finish this 2woogyu wip i have, it is a MONSTER by my standards (everything i write is < 2k ok) and ngl i'm pretty proud of what i have so far. it's a sci-fi au :3 and i also have a cry cry/infernal affairs inspired mafia au that i really want to finish but i am stuck D:
15. What inspires you?
prompts that make me think. this also applies for suju (and especially suju), but now i think most infinite things inspire me because there is so much potential. the lately music video inspired me, dongwoo's birthday tweets inspired me, woohyun inspired me lol
16. Lastly, how would you sum up your fanfiction experiences and yourself as a writer?
