Well, I got an A on my Social Change test! Oh yeah!

The bad news is that I can't do anything about my F on my Sociological theory test. I think the prof's just being a bastard. I missed 2 weeks of classes because my mother passed away. My first day back, there's a test. I inform him of what happened and he said kind of surprisedly "are you going to write the test?" And I said 'yeah, I'll see how I do and come talk to you afterward.'

Now ... shouldn't he then have said "WAIT NO! Don't do the test now! Get notes off someone and do it some other time, because if you fail the F IS PERMANENT" instead of just looking confused and letting me write my doom?

Well, I'll make an appointment with an academic advisor, and I'll go to the student union or something, because this doesn't sound right. Why should I be penalized for TRYING? The death of a relative, ESPECIALLY THE MOTHER OF THE STUDENT IS special circumstance and there SHOULD be help for me in this kind of situation.

I may even consider dropping the class and taking it next year. But that means I'll have to deal with this cranky old bastard next year.
