What better way to inaugurate this community than by giving myself a foolish challenge. Oh, sure, David Walliams stayed up for 24 hours of panel shows, Helen Skelton walked a high wire, a bunch of folk walked across a desert. Even they would surely have to admit that this is a very foolhardy challenge.
Starting at the end of Comic Relief (which will, no doubt, be 1am, or later, Saturday morning) I will begin my very own 24 hour challenge:
To write 24,000 words in 24 hours.
Not just any words, either, but words that make sense and form part of a coherent story.
I...may have bitten off more than I can chew. But I am game for the challenge! I know I can write ~5,000 words in 3 hours so why not 24,000 in 24?
So, barring interupptions for the last Ireland match of the Six Nations and assorted other necessary activities, join me through all 24 hours of Saturday (give or take a bit of Sunday) as I try to complete my challenge.
I've not set a huge goal, fundraisingwise, as I know that times are tough out there for folks right now. All I'm asking for is a measly £50 - but that £50 could mean the difference between happy and sad, life and death, future and no future for any number of people.
