When you look at your list of LJ friends and have a difficult time remembering who some of those usernames are, it's probably time to do a friends cut.
I know I've picked up a lot of people over the last seven years through shared fandom of bands or meeting once at a mutual friend's party. But it's impossible for me to keep up with everyone and I imagine that some of you have lost interest in reading my entries, too. It's okay, it's nothing personal, it just happens. People move on.
So, leave me a comment if you're still reading. Part of me hates doing this because it seems like a ploy to attract attention, but I don't want to cut anyone who is still actively keeping up with me, yet chooses to stay quiet, and I really need to do some serious weeding.
I'll leave this up and public for a week or two before I start making cuts. If we have regular communication via LJ, email, or in person, you're in good shape. If we're not in much contact and I cut you and you want back on, just leave a comment to this entry.
EDIT TO ADD: Hey gang, it's okay if you don't post a lot, or even at all. I'm just checking for life among the people who read me. So don't worry about the content of your LJ, just give me a little peep to let me know you're still interested in reading mine. :-)
