"Lost" thoughts inspired by "birch tree"

Taking a short break from the chores of doom here, and just read this post http://birch-tree.livejournal.com/85224.html by birch_tree, in which she expounds on the mutual admiration society which has grown up between the author Stephen King and the creators and writers of Lost. Now that has me ( Read more... )

Interesting post from birch_tree. Finished the Dark Tower books almost a year ago and had not noticed the little matching points myself.

Must admit to being disproportionately delighted, however, when someone else actually picks up on the Wizard of Oz connection in Lost (it really, really bothers me how many people I have to point this out to when discussing recent events on the show).

Sawyer reading new SK novel in flight? Twisty thought, but I really believe that JJAbrams would not disappoint us that way (unless he gets truly bored with the show, which is what seemed to happen with Alias), though he probably has great fun tossing in little nods.

LOL! That WOULD be twisted!

I got my Entertainment Weekley in the mail a few days ago and it's cover story is all about Lost. It's got great interviews with the creator's (JJ Abrams hired these guys to continue on as he was off making MI3) and interviews with the cast, which are hillarious.

You should see if you can find it at your nearest bookstore. You can't miss it; Jack, Michael and I think John are on the front cover.

If you can't find it, I could scan the article in, but I'm not sure the resolution will be good enough to read and that's where all the theories are discussed. THat's where it's really interesting to see as the writers address all the different fan/viewers speculations on the 'Dream' idea, and the 'Purgatory' idea. They pretty much debunk all that.

If it ends like that, I'm going to be furious. Just as furious as if it was a dream. Now, if they're dead, I'm ok with that, just as long as it's real in some sense, at least, and not just pure imagination. Interesting connection between TPTB and King, though, I didn't know that :-)

:)))))))
So that's where my little, pointless post led you to?...

That would be a bummer indeed!
Too huge a wink I guess :DDDDD
Yes, I agree with the people above: dream, hallucination, purgatory, or novel are different version of the same basic idea that the authors have debunked: the people and the events on the island are real, everything they are living is real (and the "Dave" episode was another way to state that).

But I still like the idea of Sawyer reading Stephen King on the plane, and bringing to life all those "imaginary" characters.... :DDDD

PS: what does TPTB stand for? *blushes and hides away*
