[modpost] Intros, rule reminders, and tagging information
Hello, jent_fanfics! I'm Kate, a moderator for the comm. This is just a post to let everybody know the mod team's decision on tagging and a couple of other short notes. :)
So obviously there has recently been a change in the modteam for jent_fanfics. Your current mod team consists of myself, dreamtiny, meela2389, and natsudive, with kawaiikame continuing on as our graphics mod. Please direct your questions to us--we'll get back to you as soon as possible!
This is just a reminder that as per the poll from last year, changes to fonts, their sizes, or their colors are not allowed on jent_fanfics entries. The easiest way to prevent changes to your font is to post using the HTML editor rather than the Rich Text editor.
Secondly, fic banners are still not allowed unless they're under an lj-cut, with the exception being if you're posting an advertisement for a fic exchange!
Finally, the rules about hate/love memes, fic memes, and fic exchange advertisements have not changed. If they are not directly fic related they are not allowed. If they are directly related: like, say, the most recent je-author meme, the bunny meme, the concrit memes, or the advertisement I'm about to post for the senpai_exchange, they are allowed. Hate/love memes are not fic-related and they are not to be posted here.
I did a poll last week. That poll is now closed. The comm has spoken: bring back tags for the most popular pairings. I have added the tags and your mod team is backtagging old posts right now.

These are denoted by the beginning pairing:. No other tags will be changed. Further pairing tags will be added as necessary! For the sake of this comm, pairing order has nothing to do with seme/uke conventions and is instead in alphabetical order.
If your pairing doesn't have its own tag, continue to use the character tags.
Notes on tagging.
I'd like to take this opportunity to remind people that tags are designed to be used for main characters, and group tags are encouraged if an entire group appears in your fic. I've received complaints that people looking for, for example, Tegoshi/Yamashita fic have to wade through a figurative sea of Masuda/Tegoshi which has Yamapi tagged, even if Pi doesn't actually do more than appear with the rest of the group. That's not why the character tags exist, and in fact the group tags exist in order to cut down on the amount of character tags! You're welcome to add the group tags to your posts, whether or not you include character tags for something like a pairing; many people (myself included) like to do two-tag searches for, say, KAT-TUN and gen or TOKIO and slash.
One more note: in addition to backtagging, I will be organizing the memories. This is because the "breaking lj" problem doesn't only happen with dual tags. It happens with single tags, too. If you don't believe me, go click on the tag for Kame or Jin or Yamapi or Ryo or anyone else with more than 400 entries tagged, and try to go back more than 400 entries. You can't--that's not an us issue, that's an lj issue, and it will continue to be a problem even after pairing tags are re-added. As such I'll be trying to organize all the old entries into group, pairing, genre, and rating in order to not let all the fics father back than what lj allows be lost.
Now, my final question is a more standing one: what issues are people having with the lj dual-tag search? I use the framework provided in this post (which is linked in our sidebar) and change the characters if necessary. I know there are issues with ljsearch; I personally faced issues when I went back to backtag my entries during the first mod change last year. Are there other issues? I need to know what they are so I can attempt to replicate them and help out with fixes.
