So I'm Kate, and with the permission of girltype I'm looking for a way to resolve the current issues we're having on jent_fanfics. Technological and coding issues are making it very hard for people who are fond of more popular pairings to see more than 375 entries of their pairing of choice. I understand that that can be frustrating, so I am asking that people come and answer the poll below the cut. PLEASE ANSWER THIS.

There are several options for tagging: it's clear the current system is having technical difficulties that are preventing people from viewing the comm in an organized manner. I don't know if going back and changing all character tags to pairing tags is a good idea (or a viable one--there are more than 30K entries in this place!). I think a dual system is necessary one way or another. We can go back to pairing tags, with consideration put into what pairing tags get tags (I'm wary of tagging anything with only one entry unless we really do have the room). The second option is to change the tags that are breaking the 375-entry limit (for eample Jin/Kame, Ryo/Ueda, or Ohno/Nino) to pairing tags and removing the search system from that entire mess. The third is a directory on a site like delicious.com because it allows for multiple tags, not just two, so you could do a search for "R, humor, Nino, Matsujun" and actually come up with any fic tagged with that (and no, you don't have to be a delicious user to use delicious. I know there's concern about yahoo dropping delicious, but all signs seem to be pointing toward delicious moving, rather than disappearing. If anyone has alternate suggestions for places with a similar system please let me know.). Creating memories for "Arashi, Matsumiya, humor, R" is another option, and is also viable. Keep in mind that you're still only able to go back 1000 entries per tag, so I don't know if depending on tags is such a great idea--there's always going to be fic you can't get back to out of age. Delicious has no such issue--and there's no tag limit! Memories are unlimited, too.
So, with that in mind:
Please keep in mind that this is not the only thing that will be taken into consideration. Comments are important too.

I have one final question that... doesn't translate well to a poll. If the comm were to move to a memories system, it's most likely memories would be pairing based and the tags would remain as they are. Is that a preferable system? Does that make sense? If we moved to delicious, things would work in a way very similar to the way they should work here, with individual character tags rather than pairing tags (this minimizes the amount of tags). Is that okay?
