Mod post. What should I do?

With the mods stepping down and with all the hate/wank going around. I feel it'd be wise to have membership closed and the tags system no longer open for addition. I had a few users link me to the hate meme and I don't know what to think. This place is so large, there is no way to have a tags system to please everyone. I felt the group that handled

Honestly re-adding pairing tags for the pairings that are specifically having issues--pairings like Akanishi/Kamenashi, Ohno/Ninomiya, Nishikido/Ueda or Tegoshi/Masuda, that are hitting that wall of 375 entries and not going any farther--would probably be the best solution. For those of us only writing intergroup or comparatively less popular pairs like Akanishi/Nakamaru, Kamenashi/Yamashita or Aiba/Ohno, the two-tag system is working just fine because we're not hitting that wall at all. The old system was annoying, and I think a lot of people are forgetting that. Half of Kanjani didn't have tags for pairings within the group, and there was fic of it! Meanwhile one-off threesomes had tags. Which was reaaaally frustrating.

I-I also think pimping je_borderless and upping the posting action over there would probably help

I will add je_borderless, I've seen that name pop up a few times, so it looks like a great and popular resource. You're right hate meme's don't have a place on this community at all. Those should not be posted here and won't be tolerated, it's out there, people know where to see it and I have no hate towards those places, everyone needs a platform to vent/share.

It's inactive right now, mostly because no one pimps it, but it has the capacity to be a really great place for intergroup shenanigans and wonder.

Also, um, I hope this isn't too forward, but you can PM me if you want to discuss maybe getting at least polling done for the comm. I'm curious to find out if this is the only fic comm other people are following or if they follow group-specific comms, if they're here for a pairing or what: once we know that it might be easier to decide on how to tag things, or if maybe a delicious bookmarks system or a memories-based system would be better.

Prevously before I have always asked for other comm's out there that people used and so far, no one has really stepped up and shared what their favorites are. Polls have been done before and I haven't gotten much feedback, what you see on the user info is what has been brought to my attention. I feel people WANT change, it's so much easier said than done. But if you make a poll, feel free to post it. It'd get the ball rolling.

I really think an aggressive campaign here would help. I'll go ahead and put together a poll now. I'd also be willing to help re-tag... if I can recruit a tagging team, anyway. I'm currently in the middle of discussing things with one of the co-mods at je_borderless re:networking intergroup fic there and here. It might be worth it to consider making jent more heavily intragroup and just... tagging with pairings. (I hate to say that since I was so fond of the idea of using individual character tags! But if they're really not working then for now it's worth it to admit defeat and wait for technology to catch up.)

Could we get a couple of the broader JE fic comms to work together? All the group fic comms might be a bit much, but maybe je_borderless and heat_up_je and this one, and actually work together and enforce posting rules, such as het fics allowed to be posted ONLY at heat_up_je or whatever.

Obviously there are going to be people complaining about having to join multiple communities (although I've personally never understood the issue -- it takes like two button clicks, and it wouldn't even plug up their f-list if strict posting rules were enforced), but ... I don't know. Just a thought?

That's actually probably the best idea I've heard yet. I like the idea of people joining the fic-specific comms too, but heat_up_je, je_borderless, and jent_fanfics would cover the three main segments of fandom, and it's much easier to coordinate if there's only three mod teams instead of however many group comms there are...

If things don't get crossposted on the three main comms much I think that would save f-lists a lot--that's what kills me!

I'll offer to help out with any structural organization necessary? (Wish I had the time to properly help out in this situation, but uh, fandom will have to wait until I graduate lol.)

Thanks! Having people around to bounce ideas off of is one of the more helpful things in issues like this. (Understandable! I just have lots of free time and a nature that wants me to help out when I can.)

I don't think anyone does XD; It just seems to be one of those dangerous things to do haha because everyone will bitch and moan some more about having to get used to a new system, blah blah, same old. :x

This is going to be a long-term commitment that I'm prepared to be dealing with, but if fandom can have some patience and offer their opinions when people ask them then things will change. There are people in fandom who just want to make things a little easier for everybody, but we need a little cooperation! :D;;

Exactly it's the time. People talk, but is anyone willing to invest in the time? I feel maybe there SHOULD be a jent_fanfics2 just to see if things improve.

You know, when I'm sitting right here telling you that I am willing to invest the time, it's really disheartening to see this both here and on the meme.

I don't want to hurt any feelings, but while I don't agree with the meme, if people want a second jent_fanfics I can't stop them, again it's all talk. People are talking of just deleting the place, and I already got 14 messages in my inbox telling me I have no right to even have ownership of this place. I want this place to improve, and I feel it can with the fans who are stepping up and offering help, but I do want to hear feedback from both sides of the fandom.
