[Mod Post] End of the year notes.

Dec 23, 2010 13:20

Hello everybody!

Mods here with just a few notes to go over. It's the end of the year and your new mod team has been around for a few months now!

Postings

First off, we'd just like to thank everyone who has been following the rules. The amount of people we have to tag has gone down significantly and it makes us happy. ♥ So thank you for that.

On that note, we'd like to talk about the number one problem we do run into these days. Non default text and colors. We've begun to notice that a lot of this isn't intentional, so we'd just like to go over how you can avoid this happening when you post. :)

The main problem is this - the Rich Text editor. A lot of people just copy and paste their headers when cross-posting and this causes whatever fonts/colors/size they're using to carry over, which in turn disrupts the layouts of friends lists and our community layout.

The solution - We advise you that you use the HTML editor. This will insure that your post will appear in a layout's defaults instead of whatever you might be using yourself.

On to the next bit!

Tagging

We would like to thank everyone who is switching over to the new tagging system! We know the old pairing tags are still around, but we mods are busy so re-tagging is taking a little longer than expected. Thank you for making our jobs a little easier.

Again, for those who don't know, pairing tags (the ones that are all now denoted with a *) are no longer in use. We ask that you please switch to using the character tags (c: akanishi jin, c: ninomiya kazunari, etc) and the remaining pairing tags (p: het, p: slash) as well as any other tags you with to apply.

If you haven't done it already, go back through and retag your posts! An explanation of how to do that is here. We'd love it if you could do that, it really saves us a lot of time.

Again, all pairing tags that have a * in front of them will soon be gone.

Rule Clarifications

One of the rules we imposed earlier this year was the 'No Locked Fics' rule, unless said fics are on an un-moderated community. We'd just like to clarify that we will PM or comment with a warning if this rule is broken, but you will only get one warning. Making people jump through hoops to read your stuff isn't fun.

On the rules of no customized fonts/colors/sizes, we will issue you three warnings. If you're confused about how to fix the problem, we will happily help you, but once those three warnings have been issued, we will start deleting your posts until they fall within the community rules. If you completely ignore our warnings, we may only give you one or two of them before we put you on our naughty list. If you continue to break the rules beyond our warnings, we may also consider temporarily banning you from posting.

Again, advertisements for exchanges, new fic communities, and memes are allowed to use customized fonts/sizes/colors - even banners! We just ask that you keep your banners to the size of 300x200pixels. Advertisements are the only exceptions.

Wrap up notes

If you have any questions or concerns about rules and any changes that have been made, feel free to shoot us a PM or leave a comment here. We know a lot of things have changed since the new mod team took over, so don't hesitate to tell us what you think.

Happy Holidays!
- Your mod team. ♥
