[mod post] Updates, Polls, and Some Information
Hello members and watchers of jent_fanfics !
Your new mods are already working very hard behind the scenes to get a number of things changed and updated in this community in order to better serve the members who use it. As such, we thought it was an appropriate time to give you a poll to get your input on a number of subjects we are mulling over. Since this community is FOR you and BY you, we really want to know what members think about these issues!
What we mean to say is that look for a number of changes, particularly in the tagging system, which are going to be implemented in the coming days/weeks. Don't worry, we'll be sure to give you guys guides on how to use the new systems as soon as they are put into effect- but keep an eye out, because things will be changing!
The first order of business is that of fic banners.
We know that some people enjoy creating graphics for their fics and posting them alongside the links. However, we also understand that this disrupts layouts and friend-lists of other members watching and using this community.
The second order of business is locked fics/communities.
We understand that some people are concerned about keeping fics public to the internet- this is perfectly fine! However, this community is a public community, and posting a link to a LOCKED fic here seems to defeat the point of having the community be public in the first place. To deal with this, we thought perhaps it would be best to only allow publicly-viewable fics to be cross-posted and advertised here.
Keeping with the same vein, we understand that since J&A appears to be cracking down a bit more on fandom on the internet, some people may feel more comfortable keeping ALL fic that is R or NC-17 in rating locked at jent_fanfics . Remember, you only have to be a member of jent_fanfics to see locked posts within the community.

The last thing we would like to say is that jent_fanfics has always had a rule asking members to please NOT change colors and/or fonts in the headers when they are posting links to their fics. This rule IS STILL IN EFFECT and as of now is going to be enforced again, even though it has not been enforced prior to this point.
Please do not alter color and/or font while posting your fic.
You are free to do this in your own fic journal or community, but the mods will be leaving comments and tagging posts that break this rule. After a few repeated offenses, posts are in danger of deletion unless this is fixed. This is for the look and feel of the community as a cohesive whole, so thank you for understanding as we attempt to stream-line and unify the content here. :)
