Talk To Me By the Sink

The buzzing sound of electric tooth brush echoed around the bathroom. Jun moving the device thoroughly inside his mouth, making sure it cleans every part.

A few seconds later, Sho walked through the door.

“Hey.”

“Hey.” Jun followed Sho’s movement through the mirror.

Sho stood on Jun’s left and took his toothbrush, the red one, from the stand, leaving three others, each belongs to a different person, on it’s place. And then he notice how thin the tooth paste tube is.

He looked to Jun’s reflection on the mirror who grins back at him meaningfully. “At least get the new one out, will you.” And he threw it to the trash.

Jun took the brush out of his mouth.“Top drawer, second rack.” He pointed.

Sho rolled his eyes. He reached for the wooden drawer on his left and took one from the pile of stocked toothpaste. He applied a fair amount of it on the brush and put the tube in the stand.

They were silence for a while, only looking at each other’s reflection through the mirror. An occasional uff! can be heard when Sho playfully kicked Jun’s shin with his bare feet. And Jun would use his free hand to mess up Sho’s hair even though the other guy is older than him. It’s just one year, he always said in defense. We’re practically the same age!

Ohno walked passed the bathroom yawning. “G’night, guys.”

Sho and Jun turn their heads. “Night, Satoshi.” Mumbled by the toothbrush in their mouth.

Jun spits to the sink and opening the tap. “How’s work?” He took a glass on top of the sink and filled it with water.

“The usual graphs and charts. But I got to go on location for the Diet meeting report on Wednesday.”

Jun wrinkled his eyebrow. “That’s unusual.” He took one gulp from the glass.

“The reporter who’s supposed to do it is sick. And the rest has got other things to do. I’m free on Wednesday anyway.” He said the last part as an afterthought.

“Isn’t that starts like at, 8?”

“Yeah, that’s why I got to be there early.”

“Don’t sleep too late, then” The younger one said. He grabbed a towel to dry his face.

“Yeah,” Sho spits to the sink too. “I just need to get a few things done tonight.” He washed his toothbrush and tap it to the porcelain sink’s edge before putting it back to its place.

“I’ll make you breakfast tomorrow.” Jun handed Sho the towel who took it with his right hand and wiped his mouth and chin with it. Sho smiled and thanked him. Jun placed his brush beside Sho’s.

He was about to walked out of the bathroom when the newscaster called. “I saw the leather pants in your room. Nice.”

The model grinned. “I got it from the photoshoot today. You can wear it too if you want. If it fits you.” He adds with a wink.

Jun managed to escape Sho’s towel whip with a chuckle.

Then after spreading the towel, clearing it from wrinkles, Sho hang it neatly beside the sink, and walked towards the door. He switched the light off and closed the door behind him. Time to go to bed.

You Look Good (But the Boots Appeals Me More)

Nino checked his Space Invaders watch. He still got half an hour before the competition starts. But instead of preparing for it, he decided to walk around the assembly hall.

People are coming from all over Japan for this event. The national gaming competition is held once every year. This is Nino’s third time.

But the thing that separates Nino from the other competitor, or athletes, as they call it today, is that Nino didn’t do it for the prize money. He already got enough from his job as a game reviewer for a magazine. He’s just having fun.

When he walked pass a small convenience store, he recognize the face of the model in one of the magazine cover. It’s a men’s fashion magazine. Not exactly a top seller, but it has a different and fresh taste of fashion compared to the mainstream one Nino always found swarming the streets of Japan. He picked it up and looked at the handsome face.

The model’s dark hair was curled for this photoshoot. It looks more dramatic compared to how Nino usually sees him: straight, pulled back and tied with a black thin rubber.

Nino flipped open the magazine and looked for more of his photos. The theme of the photoshoot is ‘what to wear when going to a rock gig’. Which explains the Bowie-style lighting bolt shape drawn with body paint across the model’s right eye on the cover.

He looked at the five pages of dynamic photos meticulously. The model is showered with different colours of spot light while jumping and posing in the air. Another pose has him kicking to the cameraman. It looks like as if they were putting on rock music so the model can go along with the theme while shooting this. Because one the photos has the model doing air guitar. His eyes were shut and he was biting his lower lip.

Nino finds it so hot.

The photo seems so natural that Nino can imagine him moving around, strumming his imaginary guitar throughout the song.

Suddenly there’s an announcement saying that the tournament will be started soon and Nino quickly put the magazine back in the stand. While walking back to the assembly hall, he pulled out his cell phone from his side pocket and wrote a text message:

To: Jun-pon

Subject: Saw your photos:P

Message: You look hot. Nice boots you were wearing.

I want that for my birthday.

Love you always,

Kazu.

Send.
